Re: PC requirements

Alex, have a search for PTGUI SPEED test http://hdview.at/speedtest/results.html there you can see the configuration - you can then compare how fast you want things to be, and start there! Best of luck Henrik PS: your idea of a good fast machine may very well be different to others Laptop/tablet Son...

Re: Low GPU-load on new high end GPU

I really don't understand this obsession with Mac? Like I have said many times before they are nice computers, they are the best looking boxes - and yes that bin does look pretty :-) and it is probably a good improvement over the past Mac's but they are still behind. I think a fully kitted out Mac i...

Re: Low GPU-load on new high end GPU

what board do you have?

everything with dual cpus is more expensive its a huge jump in price over a single cpu setup
but it does offer more flexibility IMHO

Re: Low GPU-load on new high end GPU

hans, What are you specs again for your system. With a Xeon, you can use more ram >64GB Your PCIe being version 3 over version 2 - is your PCIe-SSD PCIe v3? I look at my own system and even with my Areca 1882ix and 12x Intel SSD 530, I am still only just seeing over 1.2GB/s sustained transfer and pe...

Re: Chrashing, chrashing crashing

Hans,

You should not use BETA software on a production machine, what are you thinking?
Go back to the last stable version and work from there, skip the beta's till they are in full version.

and go back to work :-)

All the best

Re: Low GPU-load on new high end GPU

Hans, What you use a test set, always use the same set, to test with so you can see if you have moved forward or backwards - which is why the PTGui Speedtest is very good as its a fixed set of images, you are not attached to the images. You can compare yourself to others as well as yourself of cours...

Hi Klaus, That is a nice toy store you have there :-) Henrik All yoking aside, good cooling due to a good big case is gonna help more then placing an expensive GPU in a small case that is badly ventilated A good adress for informations about render-hardware: http://www.3dpowerstore.de/html.php/modul...

Re: should a GPU , RAM and solid stateHDto speed up giga pan

The SR-2 is getting a little long in the tooth, I built mine in 2010 - that's 4 years ago and though it has gone through several face-lifts I think I am done doing further changes to it. Next we will see DDR4, SAS 12Gb/s, PCIe3 the later two is already here. The problem is the processors that they a...

Re: should a GPU , RAM and solid stateHDto speed up giga pan

Klaus, The macpro is a single processor workstation system, you will see several of these with the 2011 CPU's, unfortunately the non-Xeon CPU's mainboards do not support beyond 64gb of ram. Clones - the Mac is a clone, in a cute rubbish bin :-) sorry couldn't help myself :-) Now show me a time of le...

Doesn't teamviewer run over the internet protocol and not over the local network?
Would Remote Desktop not be faster?

Congratulation Gerald, that is one heck of a system, but I am puzzled as to why it only sees 192GB, does it start up and show 256GB at boot up? If not then you may need to re-seat them. The price difference have come down but Mac is still top shelf I know this is a blast from the past, but when I compared my then 2005 Dual Opteron with a similar MACPRO Dual Intel, with similar component, the price difference was $12.000 vs $17.000 for the Mac (eg $5000) In 2010, I made a new box, d...

InDesign ??

A page layout program would be able to let you do this, if you can do it automatic, that's another question - but if you are good at scripting then yes its possible
