Patent trolls on the road in Germany

Heise has posted an article on patent trolls bothering panorama-photographers in Germany. Here's the link: http://www.heise.de/foto/meldung/Post-von-Patentanwaelten-wegen-Panoramas-im-Internet-1919870.html (article in german).

Hi there,

a panobook is nice, but why not make a calendar next year? Those Panos want to be seen XXL-Size and calendars are the medium to do it.

Flash doesn't come preinstalled with Android 4 devices like the Galaxy S3, I think. Have you checked that you have it installed on your phone? As Flash won't be supported on future Android OS'es, maybe you should go for HTML5 on android, too?

What about turning the camera the other way round? The Canon 600D doesn't appear to have a symmetrical body, so mounting the camera facing in the opposite direction should get you a little closer to the NP, I think.

Upgrading from APP to APG

Hi there,

I just tried to upgrade from APP to APG using the upgrade via the "my upgrades" page in my account, but the upgrade isn't in my cart when I click order. Anybody else had that problem before? Or am I doing it wrong?

Kind regards,

Christian

I have seen the same behaviour in Autopano Pro 2.6.0. It didn't translate into the actual rendering, though.

A thrown panorama

Fascinating idea: Pack 36 cameras in a foam-ball, throw it in the air and activate the cameras when an accelaration sensor signals that the ball has reached its highest point.

I guess if you are a lawyer it need not be free or inexpensive? ;) I'm state-employed, so money is still an issue. Else I wouldn't use a 350D, would I? :) I thought about DSLRemote pro. But in principle gphoto2 is perfectly able to do the job I need and only lacks a nice interface, so I would prefe...

I wish my D90 could take 5 shots.. I'm fully with you on that wish, only for me it's my good old Canon 350D. I really don't understand why the newer HDR-era cams don't allow for more automatically bracketed shots. I'm thinking about a workaround using a laptop to control the camera. Is anyone aware...

Kolor will support that. We should have for January some people working here dedicated to port Papywizard on several platform. When I have confirmation of that, I'll post a news on Papywizard subforum. I missed this exciting piece of news back in october. Can you give us any update on this project?...

Traveling Salesmen

Hi all, I'm in the process of optimizing my panoshots and after using GURLS great script I had all the stop points I needed. I tested the preset without any optimization (stupid, really) with the camera trigger on simulation and it took Papywizard 12 minutes 15 seconds to finish (for 38 shots). Then...

What software is used by NASA?

The Bootnote is of special interest to us pano photographers. I'd really like to know which software they use. Maybe Kolor should contact NASA? :)

Is there a special reason why a gigapixel pano can't or shouldn't be taken with the cam mounted vertically?

Is Photoshop able to correctly tonemap spherical panos? Some HDR tools fail to render the border where the ends of the image meet correctly.
