Help with patchy sky

I have a pano with a patchy sky and I am not sure what I can do about it. I have been away from the APG scene for a couple of years so I may not be up to speed on recent developments. I'd be very grateful for any pointers to previous threads/documentation/whatever. Also, I have a vague recollection ...

Black images in APG editor

Here's a screenshot of a pano I'm working on: apbug2.png And here's what happened when I clicked on Edit: apbug1.png Some of the images look like screencaptures from looking at my folder of files in Bridge, and others are completely black. I took the screenshot before the editor had finished because...

Problems with Gigapan Import

I tried importing a 27 by 8 array of HDR files in APG 3.7 and got the following result: apgbug.png Clearly there's a problem on the left hand side of the image. I used the Gigapan Import dialog, selected the right dimensions and pressed "OK". Have I unwittingly entered the wrong parameters...

Re: Optimal hardware for using APG

It's useful to know that the CPU is much more important than the GPU. I guess I should use SSDs wherever possible? (I'm assuming it is still the case that it is optimal to have three discs as described above.) The system you describe is essentially what I have now. I am wondering where best to spend...

Re: AP Giga 3.7 and 4.2.3 gigapan import fail [SOLVED]

Are you able to reproduce the misalignment that I originally reported?

Regarding projects not having evolved, not making any changes would be fine if the import code worked but I'd say this is an example where it does not work and could be fixed.

Re: AP Giga 3.7 and 4.2.3 gigapan import fail [SOLVED]

Thanks Oliver. I'm assuming that you used 'detect links in all stack levels' because 4.4 has the same bug? If so, the same trick works in 3.7 although it has revealed another bug (in 3.7). Here is the screenshot for what I get when I edit the stitch produced: Untitled.png The width of the image is r...

Optimal hardware for using APG

Hello Everyone, I have the opportunity to build a machine specifically for APG/Photoshop but I am out of touch with current computer hardware. This used to be an often-asked question but I can't see a sticky for it: if I want to stitch and render large panos, what's the optimal machine organisation ...

Re: GIGAPAN plug inn

I can also confirm the Gigapan import does not work well every time. What you can try - but be prepared to end up very frustrated - is to import your images in the usual way (i.e. *not* using the Gigapan import at all) but make sure you choose the option to force all images into the stitch. If you a...

Re: AP Giga 3.7 and 4.2.3 gigapan import fail [SOLVED]

The problem is not with jpgs.

You mentioned WeTransfer. I am prepared to use this but I need an email address. Can you not provide one for me to use?

Re: AP Giga 3.7 and 4.2.3 gigapan import fail [SOLVED]

Update. I didn't realise the files were uncompressed. Zipped they only take up 7GB but that's still too large for either DropBox or Google. Splitting the files into chunks is possible but sounds like unnecessary hassle.

Ideas?

Re: AP Giga 3.7 and 4.2.3 gigapan import fail [SOLVED]

Last time I was here, you had a server users could FTP their files to - I can see why this facility doesn't exist now. However, the files take up 16GB and I don't have that much space on DropBox or Google. I haven't used WeTransfer. If you think that is the best way forward then apparently I need yo...

AP Giga 3.7 and 4.2.3 gigapan import fail [SOLVED]

I have just tried to import an 8 by 12, 3 exposure set of images taken using the Gigapan robot. FFS.png The first stitch is made by 4.2.3, the second by 3.7. The third I will come to in a moment. In the first two cases I used the same settings/process: ⋅ File, Import, Gigapan ⋅ S...

Re: Importing from Gigapan, featureless images disorder. [SOLVED]

I have the same problem as the OP. I regularly take landscape shots with plenty of featureless sky and APG usually fails to put the sky shots in the right place when using the gigapan import option. It is such a common phenomenon that I have written my own program to correct the .pano file. I look f...

APG 3.7/Win 7: Gigapan Import File Order

It seems to me that when I import files shot on a Gigapan robot, APG sorts the images by their EXIF DateTimeOriginal field not their filename. I'd call this a bug - anyone agree?

Sorry Klaus, I am not sure what you mean. I have not used either of the editor options you mentioned. I don't understand whether you are say I should or should not use either to get my lines straight.

Moving Images to an Existing Layer

If I am in Move Images Mode and select one or more images in the Layers window, I'd like there to be a context menu entry to move the images to an existing layer. Ideally there would be options for how to add them: (a) stick them on the end or (b) interleave the new images so that all the image name...

Moving Images to Another Layer: Image Order

If I am in Move Images Mode and select a list of consecutive files in the Layers window, then right-click and chose Move to a New Layer, AP does so but it reverses the order of the files. I find this annoying. Can it be changed to preserved the order of the files?

[SOLVED] Using and Understanding the Vertical Lines Tool

I am having trouble getting the vertical lines in my pano to look vertical. I'm using the vertical lines tool (VLT) but the documentation does not tell you anything (afaik) about what to do when things don't work as expected. My pano is a 360x170, missing the nadir and I want a spherical projection....

[APG 3.0.4 Win 7]Anomalies when processing HDR images?

When I use AP to process a set of .hdr images and write a .hdr output, AP seems to sometimes exaggerate the brightness of in one of the source images causing a "bright spot" in the final image. At first I thought that what AP was showing me was an anomaly caused by the problem of displaying a 32-bit...
