The longest lens I have is a 70-300mm full frame (so over 400mm on a DX body.) It makes a good lens to travel with because the low end is reasonable for people shots and the full zoom for panos. If ease of triggering is not an issue would you say the D40 is as good in this application as the D70? I ...

Need advice on crown modification.

I've had a Merlin head for the last couple of years but so far I haven't done anything with it (got it just as I moved house and only came across it again over the weekend.) I need some advice as to how to modify it. 1) I want to use it with a Nikon SLR, I have a D40 and a D70 available 2) I have ze...

It's not really a compiler as such. It has a small tokenised Basic Interpreter built into the chip. The principle difference between this and Basic on a 80's vintage home computer is that the GUI/parser/tokeniser is a seperate program hosted by a PC. Once the basic program is tokenised to byte codes...

I would think such a thing would be possible using a PicAXE (a very small single chip microcontroller) and a solid state relay. Because these devices are small, self contained, cheap and easy to program they are favorites with CAP and RF model enthusiasts. I would be very surprised if there wasnt al...

Iphone's do run OSX and programs can be developed using the same tool chain just run through a MacOS ARM compiler at the end

I think it would depend on the cost and the completeness of the solution. I have been impressed by the skills and equipment of many experimenters on this forum but as a suburbanite I don't tend to have a small machine shop handy. Any solution would have to be as plug and play as possible. So crown +...

First post I have a head on the way.

This module (from the maker of the eb500) may also be of interest. The only disadvantage I can see being the need for a voltage regulator to supply the 5v needed.
