For those, who want to stay with an official source for the firmware: Celestron offers exactly the same firmware (with the b18 in it's name) as a fix for the allview since October 2012: http://www.celestron.com/c3/support3/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloaditemid=808&nav=0,6 edit: typo

i don't think it's a bug, as it works in astronomical mode, and the merlin had only that mode. Do the speed rates work in pano-mode for the allview? If i should make a guess, i'd say NO :)

should we check this? is it different to the original merlin-handcontroller behaviour?

I thought, this could be interesting ;) Until now, i only found 1 source, and that's a beta, newer than the original one. The original firmware has problems with big panos, this beta hasn't. I just asked the poster about a newer final one, but he hasn't heard of celestron about a newer one (see last...

ok, i found the solution elsewhere:

you have to press 0+8 while powering up the handcontroller, to startup in update-mode.

The 3.09 works flawless! I can choose between panoramic and astro-function and both is working nice.

So my merlin thinks, that he's an allview

well, it's not vital, regarding the work with papywizzard, but i hope to get a better alignment for star-photography. And in a further step, i'd like to see if i'm able to get the 3.09 (allview) on the controller, to get some simple panos, without the need for my netbook.

sorry, i have to get on your nerves again... i finaly updated to 020781. But updating the handcontroller is still impossible. I finally took an old pc, which still has serial ports, but already runs win-xp. No luck with that on either... neither the controller-search-program, nor the updater finds t...

Ok, updating from 020581 to 020681 worked, but updating the handcontroller doesn't work. The update-program can't find the controller :/ The mc-updater has no problem finding it... wired.

I also found an mc-firmware 2.07, what's up with that one?

ok, i'm a bit late... my firmware is 020581. I guess, there was no rs232-cable delivered with my goto-merlin, but i have to confirm that...

edit, ok, found the cable and a 232-usb converter. Let's see, what happens :D

Thanks for your response Claude, i don't want to update the merlin, just the hand-controller, if that's possible, because i'd like to use the "3 stars allocation". But maybe the synscan az isn't capable of that and i have to live with "2 stars allocation" and manual corrections. i have to look for t...

ever thought about a mechanical problem? the axis of the merlin are connected to the gearbox by a slipping clutch. Maybe the alternate move mode starts or stops a bit too fast, so the clutch slips a bit? The clutches on my merlin are quite soft and slippy, so i thigtened them a bit. after all, it's ...

i've got an old hp ipaq 5450 pocket pc with bt and windows ce on it. Would papywizzard run on it, or could it be compiled for it?

Merlin electrics: which plug belongs where?

Hi, i just stripped my merlin appart to paint it black and modify the relese-plug, so it won't always press the button half way down (it's a mono-jack for a stereo-plug). That's done now, and i want to assemble everything again, just to see, that i don't know, which of the 2-pin connectors inside be...
