AVP - VR180 Edition

I've primarily been using AVP for VR180 (or rather, VR180x101) with pairs of action cameras, already before VR180 became a thing. I've been thinking, now that VR180 is becoming a thing with proprietary cameras being announced, maybe Kolor could make a dedicated VR180 edition of AVP? The features wou...

Re: What is the exact formula for the distortion?

There's even been talk about needing 4th degree lens correction in some cases.

Re: Yi 4k Plus lens calibration values?

OK... I went through the motions myself. The values for the 4k 60 fps mode (Wide, not Ultra Wide) mode are:

FOV: 133.726
K1: 0.119
K2: 0.016
K3: -0.040

Yi 4k Plus lens calibration values?

Hello all, It's hard to search for "yi" because it's too short a search word. :p So I have to spam the forum to ask: has anyone made a lens calibration profile for the Yi 4k plus (ultra wide or wide mode)? FOV, K1, K2 and K3 values. Speaking of which: why do the lens preset xml files for A...

Re: Want to buy, but have questions first

Side note: if you plan to render a 2D video for normal desktop viewing, with cropped pan/zooms, you may want to use the Planar projection instead of Spherical. You can also morph between projections to create fancy effects. However AVP does not offer "track this point" functionality like f...

Re: Want to buy, but have questions first

what we need to know right now is how to cut away the excess black so we have as much quality devoted to the image and not black empty space, because we intend on zooming in to follow the cars on the track In the Authoring tab's Projection track you can create new states by making a split with the ...

4th order lens correction

I've attempted to calibrate SP360 4K cameras multiple times with Giga but I keep getting warping. After some discussion it turns out that for lenses more than 180 degrees in FOV, 3rd degree correction is not enough. Could 4th degree correction be considered for future developments?

Re: Stereo alignment difficulties with AVP <-> Giga

Looks like Levels / Gamma adjustments don't apply from Giga to AVP reliably either. I haven't yet nailed the exact ways to actually make a Giga gamma adjustment get applied to tthe AVP project, but my attempts have involved: - switching between Stitching and Authoring tabs - re-stitching the entire ...

Zombie Walk Stockholm 2016 (180x101)

I made a full 360 render of my 180x101 zombie walk video so that it can be viewed on Google Cardboard, with rotating spatial audio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcYiYe7Cnyk Disclaimer: It's not economic to do 180x101 in full 360 - resolution is wasted on the black backside - but it's currently th...

Re: Horizon Moves Over Time

Using stabilization value lower than 100% (it can be easily adjusted afterwards in the Stitching tab) can help eliminate drift, as it will remove long term movement. Manual compensation works too. After applying the stabilization, you can go to the Authoring tab and use the Cutter tool on the timeli...

Playback stuttering issue on YouTube

I uploaded a video rendered from AVP (and with 3D / spatial audio metadata injected) to YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3JfxVPZTjo You may see that it has a strange stuttering problem. Every few seconds, there's a hitch where the playback 'jumps'. I you watch it in anaglyph, you can see th...

Re: Problem stitching moving videos due to parallax issue

You didn't post an example, but the problem you describe suggests it's a synchronization issue between the video clips. You could try producing an audio sync cue (like a few hand claps) or flash a bright light a few times when recording, to help AVP sync the videos.

Re: MP4 h.264 header/wrapper problem with Vegas Pro

Mov won't work in Vegas without installing the (no longer upated) QuickTime for Windows. I was able to get Cineform AVI to work after installing the free GoPro cineform decoder. So these work OK, both video and audio import properly.

Re: Autopano Video Pro as a Plugin

The feature would be similar to the Dynamic Link between Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro; but understandably harder to implement as it would need to conform to each video editing suite's own plug-in architecture.

Batch render: Stitching vs Authoring tab [SOLVED]

I spent the morning hours batch rendering a set of .kava project files, and turns out most of them were in the wrong mode (I have applied a crop to get a 180x101 degree video output). :/ So... I realized that if the project is saved while you are in the Stitching tab instead of the Authoring tab, th...

Re: Apply sharpening

The Samsung Gear360 might come out with a V2 too..

They have. Improved video quality, reduced photo quality. New form factor. The lenses are closer together, so there is less parallax error for stitching.

Re: Apply sharpening

Sharpening might be possible using Final Cut Pro.. Or other video editing software with filters.. Yes, that's what I've been doing. It's a disk space and time consuming step to render the videos to huge intermediate Cineform files for further editing. I use Vegas Pro, but it's possible that Premier...

Re: Apply sharpening

Or, if the sharpening wasn't simple, it could be smart and take into account the lens aberration (deconvolution) and also how much the pixels are stretched by the projection.

MP4 h.264 header/wrapper problem with Vegas Pro

I cannot import MP4 files rendered out of AutoPano to Vegas Pro - they import as audio only, no video. Only after I've used HandBrake / FFMpeg to re-wrap the mp4 (copy video stream, only rewrite header), the video opens normally. Could Kolor do something about the way AVP writes the mp4 header to ma...

Re: Which program to use with VR360 Cam(Samsung)

ActionDirector hasn't crashed on my machine. Sounds like bad luck. You only need to import the footage into ActionDirector, and it will start stitching the video files. Instead of expoting, you can just take the stitched files from the user data folder (there's a right click command to open the fold...

Re: Auto-stereo settings based on file names

As different people use different naming coventions it could get tricky. But it could also be helpful if the stereo menu's footage list would allow you to select multiple clips with Ctrl-click and then simultaneously set all their modes at once?

Re: Which program to use with VR360 Cam(Samsung)

The Samsung Gear 360 writes somewhat exotic video files where both lenses are in the same file, side by side. They're best stitched with Samsung's own software, either with the Android Gear 360 app, or the ActionDirector desktop program. You won't get any of AutoPano's features (like stabilization) ...

Apply sharpening

Some cameras, like the Samsung Gear360 and the PixPro SP360 4k could benefit from a bit of digital sharpening (without it the image looks a bit muddy). Would a sharpening feature (simple sharpen, or Unsharp Mask) in AVP be feasible? Sharpening would be good to apply after the projetion / stitching, ...

Re: Stitching problems with Kodak pixpro sp360 4k footage

What kind of FOV and lens correction settings do you have on the cameras? Do you also have AutoPano Giga that lets you change them? The default automatic stitching tends to give inconsistent results for lenses that have more than 180 degrees of FOV.
