Google Maps?

Hi,

I have a question regarding Google Maps since they really are the standard. If I understand this correctly, Google Maps can't be used anymore by PTP since it's primarily a flash application, right? So now we have to use Open Map Source or Bing from now on. I live and work in Belize. The new maps are not really even close to the quality of Google Maps. Once you go to HTML5 will we be able to use Google Maps again since it's still available for javascript?  Hope I at least got the main idea across.

Best,

Ben

Re: Google Maps?

google stopped access to the google maps flash-API which is used by the existing google maps pugin (ptp and also krpano).
Existing api keys can be used for existing and new projects (with unchanged domainname), but you cant create a new api key for new domains.

the google maps plugin in ptp is not equal with the google maps plugin available at krpano.
But also the krpano plugin is no longer available to buy and is official replaced by the binmaps plugin at krpano.

and yes I think shorter or longer there's no other way than adopt the existing google maps plugins to accept also the current valid "Google Maps JavaScript API v3".
And if not hopefully any other programmer can spend some hours to create a new plugin.

Georg

Re: Google Maps?

Seem like current users of the google option are rather left out in the cold here. Kolor disappoints me here not coming with a solution. Bing or openstreet is not an alternative for me. I want to be able to have google maps integrated in my tours.

???
My existing panotours with google maps is working fine and I can make new ones with no problems.
What I don't know is whether or when Google will stop serving maps to the flash-plugin.

... than try to create a new pano with google maps with your existing key for a new domain or try to get a new key from google for this domain...
both fails.

to make a pano with "existing key for a new domain" never worked.
and I know you cannot get a new key. this is a problem for those who makes panos for others, e.g. for a living.
for me that's not a problem. I have my sites, a working key and Panotour churns out panos with google maps smile
