I've been processing my pano for around 16 hours now and the status bar is still on blend. I checked the CPU usage and it says that APG is running ~100 processes and using 6.8% of the CPU. Is this normal? Is there a problem with the program? How much longer until its done stitching?
Computer Info:
Mac Pro
8 cores
20 gig ram
1 gb video
1 T HD
Photo Info:
3060 Images
18mp each image

6.8 % total cpu....how much is autopano using? I almost assume 0%. Can you somehow see which files are being read/written to on your system?

hmmm... hard to remote diagnose....
it can be a hangup but it also can be a normal stich....
depends on used settings (multiband is more timeconsuming than linear blending etc...) and >3000 images is a lot...
have you tiff (8 or 16bit) or jpg or raw (raw will be apg internal converted to tiff...) images?
I recently had 1188 images rendered (jpgs) and this took >5 hours (with 8GB RAM PC)

Im using .jpg files for the inputs and doing a .psb output. APG is running ~100 processes and using 6.8% of the CPU.

Using some old formula I came to the conclusion that for doing a 1080 photos at 18 mp panorama, you either need 215 GB of RAM and run it super fast, or you need 215 MB in your temp directory and run slow.
I assume there is a lot of file-IO going on at the moment, Can you confirm that? Is your harddisk making lot s of noise?

I have to go over to my friends house to check on the status. I'm pretty sure that its processing the file. Here is some information from http://www.dresden-26-gigapixels.com/dresden26GP:
"The picture was made with the Canon 5D mark II and a 400mm-lens. It consists of 1.665 full format pictures with 21.4 megapixel, which was recorded by a photo-robot in 172 minutes. The converting of 102 GB raw data by a computer with a main memory cache of 48 GB and 16 processors took 94 hours. With a resolution of 297.500 x 87.500 pixel (26 gigapixel) the picture is the largest in the world. (stand December 2009)"
My pic has 3060 images. I guess that I'll be waiting a while.

42 hours and still blending. No movement of the status bar. I am going over to my friends house to check on the system status and make a post when I get back.
It might be a good idea to include a more accurate status bar to make sure that the program hasn't stuck when blending really big panos.

We let the computer run for 8 days and it never finished blending. I finally canceled the process.

Warning : the progress bar is not linear and it takes 66% of the blending time until it moves again. We are aware that it is highly not linear but it's not easy to correct.
BTW : if you have a huge gigapixels, contact us, we have in house an optimized autopano just for this kind of rendering.

I have the same situation with a 182 image pano. it went through the warp stage relatively fast and now it is stuck on blending without any visible progress for 2 hour2 or so. How do you know when to abort and what to do to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks!
