I knew it would not be easy, after following others struggling here in the forum.
The (test)case:
a sphere shot with fisheye, two rows 6 positions in each
5 brackets: -2,-1,0,+1,+2
shot with VR drive 2 which produce a XML-file. the XML looks like below
What I expected:
the XML tells where the images should be positioned, so i did not expect detection problems
the XML also tells that the images is bracketed, 5 brackets per position.
I expected APG to use this info and give me a detected result almost automatic
What I got:
trying to detect the bracketed sphere I have still not got beyond detection. see screenshot below.
to my comfort I have made a sphere from the bracket zero images and I easily made it to RMS=1.96. therefore I know it is nothing wrong with the images.
I suppose it will work, but it is not very "auto" by now. And still I've not come to the rendering !

I want to make a HDR sphere and I want to do it without using Photomatix, I want to do it with APG.
Yesterday I went out of ideas, so today I shot a new series with less overlap. That reduced the number of images to 10 positions, 5 brackets on each position.
I'm sorry to report that I cannot get past detection-phase. The screenshot below shows exotic results from the detection.
To my comfort I made a EV0 pano, with no problems, to RMS 2.04.
For now I conclude: APG is not capable of detecting a bracketed sphere like this
I hope I am wrong. But for now I give in.
If anyone want a challenge you can have it all: http://www.lstrand.no/ymse/aasen_108.zip (800MB)
50 images (don't forget to change the lens type to fisheye)
XML-file
.pano-file for the EV0-pano
Please report the solution here, if there is a way through the maze.

Sorry. In the package there was a couple of blurry images.
I've made a new package: http://www.lstrand.no/ymse/aasen_108_v2.zip

I never used XML with AP, but some thoughts:
1- Why detect it at all? I thought that's what the XML was for. Unless the XML places the images in their generally correct positions and detection would fine-tune their positions.
2- What were your group settings? http://www.autopano.net/wiki-en/action/ … p_Settings
I'd try "detect links in one stack level" and "For a stack use hard links"
Your url returns a 404. Try batch-converting them to 800px per image, JPEG, compression 98. If you get the same issues, then it will be easier for everyone to download that much smaller zip and try it.

hmm have absolute no problem...
1. did not use the papywizar import, did use the load images
2. loaded all 50 images
3. than I did stack n images
4. i selected 5 images and used the middle image (= nr. 2 !!!) for the index
5. just did auto color correction
6. see values in screenshots... especially I used the tip of DrSlony...
7. started detection
I tried it with or with out setting the imageproperties manually. both 4.14 RMS (is used non camera + fisheye + 16mm which was automatically recoginzed on 2nd and third try, on my frst try I selected manually Olympus E-P2 focal 8mm and it gave me correct according to E-P3 pages on internet the 2x crop factor and in result the 15mm 35mm equivalent)
...
last screenshot shows some exposure fusion settings I did test and the preview or renderresult...

Yes I know. When I realized some of the images were blurred I deleted the zip-file, and later posted a new v2.

AND... if I do use the xml file ;-) I get in general the same result as you posted and many much more nonpanos...but surrealistic art ;-))
following screenshot I finally got with:
1. using import wizard papywizzard
2. selectung you xml
3. selectin you 50 images
4. under tab I selected 8mm focal length (16mm were recognized by default)
5. Stack settings: hard links + one stack level
6. autodetection enabled...
7. use recorded location
8. finish...
so per default 16mm are recognized (pressing using xml or pressing use exif data from image and also non of both just using the default value recognized - all three variants show 16mm - if I than change manually to 8mm the surrealist pano results get to realistic ones ;-)

Not me either, throwing all the images at APG, without the XML.
This exercise is for making a workflow for highres bracketed spheres, typical 50-300 images x 3 brackets.
Then it is better to practise on a small scale.
Why XML ? For this pano it is just to check out if it works. And it don't !
For larger spheres with a lot of sky and water it is almost impossible to stitch them without a XML-file.
When it don't work for this small pano I guess it won't work on large spheres either.
the mystery:
- the pano is easely detetected without XML
- I have not been able to detect it even once using the XML-file. And I have tried all combinations of "detect links in:" and "For a stack"

yea I got it... so my second postings shows near the same result using WITH the xml... I also disovered problems... if I used settings as described in last posting it did finally work.
this behavior I think is anormal. it should be discovered if this is a single case or if its reproducable... if reproducable I assume error in import wizzard if correct focal is discovered and used (16mm) that pano fails and if the plain used focal is used (8mm) than pano does work

I have tried this scheme, but for me the result is like the image below.
Maybe the problem is my default settings?
If anybody else can repeat a successful detection using the above recipy I will have to look at my APG-settings.

yes - the only setting what make no sense. the system detects the 16mm, but when I changed to 8mm I got a usabel result using papy import wizzard and xml logfile.

ok... could not reprocue what I stated after closing my ptp and restarting from beginning, so I must have mixed some settings in my earlier tries... that gave me to think...
I could reproduce it twice now to get finally a usable result.

important to redo my test: is to to it twice - in same order - as I did it and hwo its shown in video!
(currently rendering mixdown on my pc for youtube 7min video ... upload than will take because I'm using asynchron DSL line ;-<<)
dont expect pro quality... avi was 2GB and the mixdown is finally a 25MB mp4 .
I could reproduce the result finally 5 times - not saving the project and closing ptp each time after the test before starting again...)

Now I can do it too. I have found the problem, after following Georgs video in detail. Thanks a lot !! I would probably not solved it on my own, at least it would taken me hours of fiddling.
So what was the problem ? The image below show what I did and what Georg did. I thought that "16mm fisheye" as marked out was sufficient.
It is not. It has to be the real focal length ! And the crop can be entered through sensor scaling or conversion factor.
Solved. Thanks again to Georg.

Great, Georg! Thank you! So it´s preferablel to use "hard links" and unckeck "search control points" when importing xml?
What i don´t understand: in the xml there´s written a focal lenght of 85mm. APG seems to ignore it still (sse the screenshot).
What must i set for stack? "hard links"? Do i work with stacks when i use only one layer?
Sorry to be confused here . .
best, Klaus
setting like in the screenshot gives the result in the other screenshot:

is it enough to talk from a bug or is it just a inconsitency in GUI usage... dont know.
doing it the more automatic way (my first run in video) pano detection fails, but the detected focals are correct recognized.
importing them same way with same resources as in first run but doing not an autodetection and correcting focal in the xml (because of unrecognized EXIF and wrong interpreted xml and in conclusion getting a warning message because of inconsistent focal data (the red warning in the video) and than manually using the wrong value (the 8mm) than the pano works.
so using autodetection is no go in case of using import wizzard, because you cant verify the focal data.... this only can be manipulated in the image properties... the focal settings during the papy importwizzard seems not used/not recognized/notcommunicated to the next step (detection)
so kolorteam should decide ;-)
so Klaus, yes data from xml or even more will be ignored (ignored at all in general, or only because of unrecognized lens, body, focal or whichver - I cant say...)
in leifs example I also tried it without any xml file and manually doing the same changed on image properties etc... and result is complete equal.
so in this mini pano xml give no advantage, if image position is used or not...
in this example it was the solution. but f this is a way to do it with other panos too.... I dont know.
I too often had to adopt the workflow from scratch to find a working pano on my projects...
Klaus, the hardlink I tend to point to the stacked images and less to the papy xml import. and if you only have one layer, than no stacks... importing the images (of the one layer) than you cant form a stack... so

There is something fishy here. I have moved foreward and shot a 5 bracket sphere using a 14mm (28mm equiv) lens.
I think Kolor should have a thorough look at the focal length/focal (35mm eq) issue througout APG (including the import plugins)
How come that Photoshop reports the file P3194723.TIF to be focal length 14.0mm and APG reports the focal length to be 28mm ???
For the fisheye excersise this was the difference between success and total failure.

as you can see in your screenshot the body is not recognized (again)
because your cam is not listed in the cameras.txt (in autopano programm dire -> resources -> Data subfolder)
so I used in my above "video" test of your pano the olympous and E-P2, so use 14mm focal on left and the 28mm (35equiv) should be displayed.
if its enough to add the same line one line under the existing line for the E-P2 I dont know... (I tested your images and after adding the line it will be recognized by autopano - thats the good news - the bad one is that the pano than no longer works like described in my video)... so better do not add the line to yours....
... test it again with selecting the olympus and selecting E-P2, conversion factor is 1 and focal is 14mm...

The file i used was created by the new Panoneed/controller. But as i said: on the platform we stood was some heavy shaking from construction machines which we couldn´t stop.
So the stitch isn´t as perfect as usual. We took this as a test and made another appointment when the machines don´t run.
Josef checked it again and again - i guess it should be ok . . as long as APG´s import interpretes all items correctly. I´ll check again tomorrow whether something´s missing.

The XML should be like this (?)
<pict id="1" bracket="1">
<pict id="1" bracket="2">
<pict id="1" bracket="3">
<pict id="1" bracket="4">
<pict id="1" bracket="5">
<pict id="2" bracket="1">

<pict id="3" bracket="2">
<pict id="3" bracket="3">
<pict id="3" bracket="4">
<pict id="3" bracket="5">

now it is like this:
<pict bracket="001" id="0001">
<pict bracket="001" id="0002">

we should not confuse everybody by comparing the different xml formats. In the import funktion are Rodeon, Gigapan, Papywizzard and Panotools. Each has it's own format. I got my format for Papywizzard XML from Alexandre Jenny by the following example:
In the header, you just need to change the nbPicts value :
Here's one example with 3 brackets exposure.
<camera>
<timeValue>
4.0
</timeValue>
<bracketing intent="exposure" nbPicts="3"/>
<sensor coef="0.7" ratio="4:3"/>
</camera>
nbPicts = number of bracketing images for each position?
Yes, that's it.
ID is the uniqu id of the image : should follow relatively the image number of jpeg.
bracket means the index in the current stack. One bracket example included below :
( attached, is the full xml ).

</time>
<position pitch="19.6" roll="90.0" yaw="-35.4"/>
</pict>
<pict bracket="2" id="2">
<time>
2009-04-26_15h42m03s
</time>
<position pitch="19.6" roll="90.0" yaw="-35.4"/>
</pict>
<pict bracket="3" id="3">
<time>
2009-04-26_15h42m08s
</time>
<position pitch="19.6" roll="90.0" yaw="-35.4"/>
</pict>
<pict bracket="1" id="4">
<time>
2009-04-26_15h43m07s
</time>
<position pitch="19.6" roll="90.0" yaw="-20.9"/>
</pict>
<pict bracket="2" id="5">
<time>
2009-04-26_15h43m12s
</time>
<position pitch="19.6" roll="90.0" yaw="-20.9"/>
</pict>
.. etc.
This is exactly what the Hanheld Controller is creating. The best would be if Alexandre Jenny would check the different formats if they are o.k.
