PanoramaApp exprimental Android application

skyml wrote:

How's progress on this going?  Would love to see an android app that can control my merlin.  Focus for me would be panos and time lapse.

Search for "PanoramaApp" on Android Market smile

The actual objectives of the PanoramApp:

claudevh  wrote:

I am really happy if you try PanoramApp.

This is just a test using the Skywatcher API put at disposal "officially" by Skywtacher.

My son have prepared a ".APK" for Android solving some BT issues.

The future objectives are:

- to let this application run on the "smallest" Android smartphone. (Anroid 2.2 = the lower target !)
- to built-in the Papywizard Preset utilisation and generate the Kolor presets.
- to built-in some "timelapse" functionalities.

This development will stay "open" like Papywizard ...

BUT this is still "in development"

Re: PanoramaApp exprimental Android application

Vincèn - WOW!  big_smile  Downloaded the App and it's working pretty damn good.  It's not fully capable like papywizard yet but looks very functional.  Will have to play with it more and figure how to set the FOV for my lenses and test with my camera mounted.  Will definatley mention this app to users of the Merlin on the Time Scapes forum... though I see no time lapse function it will be worth looking at for wireless control.  I permanetly wired one of Claudes BT adapters into one of my Merlins and added a switch to turn it on when I'm not using the MX2 to control it.  Being able to flip a switch and use the app on my Droid to manually control the head is pretty cool.

Re: PanoramaApp exprimental Android application

This is a post of "gkaefer" who as been lost !

Herafter what he said about "PanoramAPP"

gkaefer  wrote:

did install the panoramaAPP from android marked to my Sony Xperia X10 with android 3.2

I could connect to a BT modul coming from Teleskop Austria
and I could use the left,up,down, right button to move my merlin.

what I discovered: if my mobile changes from portrait to landscape screen modus, the Bluethooth connection is gone I've to reconnect inkl. using password for peering again.
same if screensaver is being enabled or the app is in background.

keep on going!

UPS - CORRECTION "android 2.3.3" is correct

Claude this app is very nice it connected perfect to your BT. (used a

Look more promissing than sticking to Nokia's Maemo!
The interface has a steep learning curve but it is a step forwards.
Lens configuration is one to look at.
One button script action (importing scripts)
I will follow this closely.

You can find description of Papywizard custom preset files here:
http://www.papywizard.org/wiki/UserGuid … tompresets

You can create custom preset files with any text editor - however they must be saved with UTF-8 encoding; this can be done easily with Windows Notepad.

I have nikon d7000 with 10,5 nikkor

With a DX Nikon and the Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye I use one of two shooting patterns.

1. Used outdoors - 6 around at approx. -15 degrees and one or two up and approx. +65 degrees (if two shots then with say 120 degree yaw separation). This covers the zenith but you'll have 'hole' at the nadir - quite large with Merlin mount vs. a manual panohead - that you'll have to handle separately.

2. Used indoors - 6 around at approx. -15 degrees and a second row of 6 around at approx +50 degrees pitch - this also  covers the zenith but you'll have 'hole' at the nadir - quite large with Merlin mount vs. a manual panohead - that you'll have to handle separately. I find two rows of 6 around results in a better stitch when shooting domestic scale inetrior spherical panos.

Re: PanoramaApp exprimental Android application

Hello "alexdziga" ,
Pay attention that PanoramaApp is still a "experimental" application in development ...

So it is actually impossible to use the "Papywizard Presets" with PanoramaApp.

But this will be updated soon ...

Anyway, when you have configured and saved your scenario in PanaramaApp, this stay availlable you have just to recall the scenario and play it again !

Have fun.

And share your experiences.

Claude

P.S. The link to your web site in the signature DON'T work !!!

Re: PanoramaApp exprimental Android application

Can you tell me what changes her son has made to the Bluetooth settings?

When I compile the source code of http://code.google.com/p/skywatcher/
I have big problems with the Bluetooth connection!

The PanoramaApp of her son on the other hand connects without problems, unfortunately I have no source code thereof.

Greetings
kwalter
