absolute vs relative file location handling

I'd like to request a change in the way Autopano Giga recognizes file locations, at least for the OS X version.

I often move my work from a laptop to a desktop, and with every move, I have to tell APG where the files are located, even though the locations are still the same (relatively) as the .pano files.

For example, I use a folder structure like this:

November Panos (home folder containing the below folders and files)
pano 1 (folder containing Group 1's JPGs)
     Group 1.pano
pano 2 (folder containing Group 2's JPGs)
     Group 2.pano
pano 3 (folder containing Group 3's JPGs)
     Group 3.pano

and so one for each panoramic image for that particular month.

When I move the entire November Panos folder to another computer, I have to relink each set of images to each .pano file.

I'd love to see a different way for APG to handle files when moved to another computer, basically using relative locations instead of absolute locations.

Re: absolute vs relative file location handling

Probably the best thing to do, from a users perspective, would be to store both the full path and a relative path.
Then, when reopening the pano, if the images are not present at the full path, try the relative path.

As an alternative to storing a relative path to each image, the pano file could store a full path to itself, and use that to calculate the relative paths of the images if it's moved.

Re: absolute vs relative file location handling

Note : in v2.6 beta 4, we added a new automatic search system : if it doesn't find images in absolute format, it tries relatively to the .pano project file.
