How to create multiple starting points of virtual tour

Hi,

At the moment I can only select one panorama for the tour as starting point. Although this is logical for a standalone tour, this is not when one wants to integrate the tour into website of f.e. a hotel. Then you want to be able to load a different panorama from different webpages, f.e. a page about a certain type of room want to load with starting pano that room.

I do not want to create seperate version of a virtual tour, that would be a waist of resources.

Is there a parameter that I can use to select the panorama that is shown as first one? If so, can I use it from the index.html or index#.xml? Of course I can make a copy of index.html and call it index1.html, index2.html etc

With this feature I can allow the programmers of the website of the customer to link from a different pages to a different panorama while still maintaining the linkage between all panoramas in the tour.

regards,

Hans Keesom

Re: How to create multiple starting points of virtual tour

Hi at all,

I have the same problem. How to start a tour out of a website with different "first displayed panos". Is there a parameter to set? At this time i create a seperate SWF file for each start point. Thats not smart.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Actually, what you do is smart. It is a way around the problem, instead of linking panoramas one links by URL. Thanks Peter!

I have the same problem. Is there a solution to access with a HTML-link to a specific panorama in a panoramatour (swf-File or xml-File)?

Thanks a lot for any suggestions!

Re: How to create multiple starting points of virtual tour

@mediavets: Thanks a lot!

One more question: Beside the solution with the plugin, is there also a solution to access to a specific panorama in a tour embeded and generated by Panotour Pro with variables in the URL, e.g. "www.mytour.com/tour.html&pano=tour2.xml"?

According to different postings it should be possible:
- http://krpano.com/forum/wbb/index.php?p … #post14516
- http://www.krpano.com/forum/wbb/index.p … #post29460

Unfortunately I was not able to get it work. Does anybody has a working example?

Otherwise I would appreciate a solution in Panotour as suggested in:
- http://www.kolor.com/forum/t12763-deep- … panorama-s

Re: How to create multiple starting points of virtual tour

As there are no further posts, I would like to share my experiences in the meantime:

It seems that the swf-file generated by Panotour Pro does not support external parameters. Therefore I have generated a new swf-file with the kprotect tool (and the option "external parameter" enabled). With this new file it is possible to access by URL to a specific location within a PP-Panotour, e.g. "www.mytour.com/virtualtour.swf?xml=virtualtour2.xml".

-> Thus I would be happy if the external parameter function would also be enabled or an option in the Panotour GUI.

But there is one problem... Due to the structure of the xml-files generated by Panotour Pro the overall functions/graphics (like the navigation list) are not displayed as this information is included in the virtualtour.xml. The hotspot links are visible within the different locations but do not work (only the hotspot animation like "zoom in to pano view" works, but there is no change to another location).

-> Does anybody have a solution for my problem?

PS: As written above by mediavets there is a solution with an external commercial plugin. But I think it should be a basic feature in Panotour Pro to have the possibility to easily access a location in a panotour by URL.

Re: How to create multiple starting points of virtual tour

I just did some testing with generating seperate tours for each Panorama and then changing the links into url s instead of normal links. If you open the new url in same window, it looks fine to me.

What you do is have the total tour in the maindirectory and starting with the starting panorama s. In subdirectories you generate also but with other panorama as starting panorama. Change all links into relative url's and you are fine.

The only problem is that is is a lot of work to generate all the subparts and subdirectories.
And every subdirectory will have to hold the complete tour if you want to keep the full panorame list. If only we can add url links to that links that would solve a lot.

Would be wonderfull if we could have an checkmark that will make panotour generate all these subdirectories for us.

Re: How to create multiple starting points of virtual tour

@HansKeesom: Thanks for your input. I understand your solution. But as you have written, it is quite a lot of work to generate different tours. For me it is too much work, as I have quite a slow computer and my panotour consists of more than 20 panos (increasing). Thus I would really also appreciate an easy solution by panotour for this issue.
