Autorotation turns off for idevices + next button

Hello,

i love autorotation but it does not work on mobile devices. On occasions I have built 2 versions of the same tour; one with autorotation for computer users and one without autorotation. It would be great if in the building of the tour it could switch off autorotation for idevice users and keep it for computer users.

Also, it would be great to have a 'next button' compatible with i devices. Sometimes hotspots don't fit because the next panorama is not adjacent to the previous panorama. I can get around this by using the drop down menu for computer viewing- but the dronp down menu does not work on idevices.

Re: Autorotation turns off for idevices + next button

Hey Marianne.... Well.... Nothing works on iDevices...accept for the basic pano and thumbs... Check out some of the forum chats on this.. Drop downs will never work, movies don't work in any format, swf and more do not work... iDevices suck!.. its the reason my my husband bought a Blackberry phone rather than the new Apple iPone... I would love an iPad but what's the point for what I do... I want to create my own content in swf... so bought a laptop notebook with a swivel touch screen... Its thin and great.... and WORKS!! with swf, movies, my panos and more and more and more... Sooo sing it... 'i.... Pads... SUCK!' smile

It might be possible to have a next and previous buttons but you will have play with the thumb nav a bit.. you can make that stay down and put the background to 100 alpha, it will probably cause more issues to get rid of it...  and put a button/s with next or previous where you set your thumbs.... But the only way I can see you being able to do that would be to make one pano per html file so the next in effect would open the next or previous url on that button making it appear its going to next or previous.. So every pano at the the thumb area would have the same button graphic but different url... Well, thats what I would do.. but others will probably have a different opinion on this...

I will make a demo up if you want one....

Take care...

D..

Hi!

Autorotation works well on iDevices! Hotspots also work well.
Besides of you can´t add text/tooltips to hotspots because hovering isn´t possible.
There´s no floating mouse-cursor on iDevices - therefore there can`t be hovering. We have to design different ways of navigation.

Well - we constantly use two iPads in meetings and presentations and i would miss my iPhone very much . . i love it, it´s a great device. I wouldn´t always carry a netbook with me and if i need more i take my 17" MacBook Pro when i know i will need it. My iPhone i carry always around with me.

I tried different devices under the aspect of Flash to use them in addition to the iPad/Phone: Flashpanos run very badly on all mobile devices i tried (Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG) - i wouldn´t like to present an interactive pano to our clients in THAT quality.

Maybe it will change with double-/quadcore processors on iDevices - but then thy´ll be running very short time because of drawing too much power.
Flash is very power consumpting - that´s why Apple doesn´t want it on it´s devices . . i understand that. Maybe that will change with new processors and bigger accus.

So we have "two worlds" here:
in the "first world" you have a device which you carry with you all the time. Here our interactive tours run fine on our iPhones/iPads.
in the "second world" you know to be going to a meeting and carry a "real" presentation machine like a Note-/Powerbook with you to present your content. In that case a netbook is a bad idea. A Blackberry or an iPhone is unthinkable to present interactive content in a meeting with clients.

But think about accidentally run into a client or a potential client somewhere - i often meet advertising-agency people in a Starbucks or a diner - and show him/her a short impression of your content on your mobile-phone: in all cases they ask for a presentation-meeting.

Funny enough: connecting an iPhone to a beamer in the meeting room and presenting in first-class quality rises great attention . . cool

Hi
Yes, autorotation, full screen and hotspots should all work.
Trying to be non-inflammatory here, but (proprietary and cpu hungry) Flash is dying, even Adobe are speaking very publicly about (open standard and lower CPU) HTML5 tools and what people want. I'm pretty pleased that krpano is going the way it is with js and HTML5 and hope it continues to develop as the standard continues.
Good advice there Klaus on using mobile devices to impress clients. The first client tour demo I gave was actually on an iPad (using Pangea though) and they were so impressed. Touch devices rock for tours.

Yep! Tablet devices will spread enormously! And Apple with their iPad is the protagonist - as usual . . cool
Zillions of clones will follow.

I also feel its a pain in butt for content providers to provide an apple device ready vtour knowing well its  soon going to be over taken by open source android devices cheaper to own & far more features for the masses.
Natively it already supports flash 10.1, with gingerbread 2.3 being developed flash10.2 will roll out, so apple is going to be an elite club device whose users don't want to see flash content.

Of course in special Apple users want - and need - to see and generate Flash-content. But in an appropriate way instead of a stuttering visualization of a substandard . . . cool

New upcoming devices will overtake the iPad by their sheer masses. Not neccesarily class . . . Better beeing an elite club than dealing with insufficient material and making a fool of oneself in front of a client . . cool

I know Apple takes Flash-like content in high regard - because most of multimedia producers use Apples. Guess successors of iPad2 will take Flash and/or html5 will be better working and takes interactive panorama content then in a way Flash does actually.

You definitely don´t want to loose half of your accu-power just because of seeing interactive panos . . . i know what i´m talking about very well - used Flash on a very expensive tablet PC . . . sucks power like hell.

Even though i would urgently need Flash for my work and for presentation i understand and support Apple to ban it from iPhone and iPad yet. There are workarounds that work better and better the time goes on. Let´s see where Flash is in a year or so . . it´s dying the way it is actually . . .

best, Klaus
