Hello,
Request for projections applicable to buildings/structures for nice perspective, if not hard to implement.
Examples are in the link below: thank you.

The "compressed rectilinear projection" seems to be THE tool for shooting very wide angles.
Thanks for linking!

Hey Georges - great!

We need this ! (core, plugin or stand-alone)

Thank you! Like high DR images which look like ordinary images (no HDR look), very wide squeezed rectilinear images can look like ordinary images (no fisheye look) so that this technique is very difficult to promote! Both techniques are enabling images which would be impossible if said techniques were not available.

The images is composed of 5 images in portrait position, eos50d, 24mm (12-24mm sigma).
The first image is stitched by APG 2.5 cylindrical.
The second is Squeezed Rectilinear stitched by PTAssembler.
Could we request for similar projection (squeezed rectilinear) so that structures will be presented more pleasing.
Best regards and thank you.

Manuel - using the horizontal-line-tool you can do the same inside of APG. It works fine up to 110-120°. I used it up to 150° - had to do heavy undistortion in Photoshop.
Using vertical- and horizontal-line too in combination you can straighten very well - up to the FOV i mentioned above. You wouldn´t nee PTAssembler for that.
best, KLaus
P.S.: i would strongly suggest to shoot symetrical - which means in such a case to shoot not only one row horizontal and one row up, but also one row down though you wouldn´t want to see it in the image later. For undistort the shgoot later it´s easier to have a symmetrical shoot.
Or you do one row slanted up and one row slanted down.
How "pleasing the structures are presented" is a question of focal length and the numbers of shots you make.

Hi Klaus,
Thank you very much for the tips, noted and I will try.
The space in front is so tight so I used a wide angle.
Pleasing for me means the horizontal and vertical structural lines should be straight.
I am assuming that in addition to the APG projections (4), we can make our own or customized projection, manually.
Best regards,
Manuel.

This might be a tedious procedure, whereas if one special projection like squeezed rectilinear could be added, it will be ideal for structures. Cylindrical projection works well with sceneries or outdoor without hor/vert lines.
Best regards,
Manuel

I agree, this is a must to have feature. I had to postpone using APG for city panoramas until "compressed rectilinear projection" is implemented.

Hello Hankari,
I have tried spherical and mercator and it is similar to cylindrical with horizontal lines curved.
Best regards

We will propose a lot of projection for APP/APG v3.0. This is the top priority on the list.
BTW: we already started to work on this subject and in a few weeks, we'll share something that make usage of such projections.

I doubt you can handle extreme distortions just by choosing an appropriate projection.
I did a shot in an also very tight space using an 85mm and got an angle of around 150° for being planar-projected.
I did it by using the line tools 3 years ago. Had to use VERY massive Photoshopping to correct extreme distortions caused ba the extremely wide angle.

Hi Klaus,
Seen your pano and you did it very well.
Hi Alexander,
I am happy that you are considering the request for various projections.
Best regards to both,
Manuel

We presented a solution for that too during 4st Autopano User Meeting. It will be part of the new projections modes.

Hey Alexandre - i´m curious!
Too bad i couldn´t be there like the year before.
best to you, Klaus

you know how much I am interested in that projection...!!!

Hi Alexandre,
As Klaus, I didn't attend the 4st user meeting and would like to learn more about Autopano v3.0 proposals for other projections (missing for a long time).
Beside projections based on mapping target (not so adapted to panorama), some projections proposed like "Compressed Rectilinear" (PTAssembler) or "Panini General" (Hugin) may give Autopano users more freedom to render partial panoramas.
Alexandre, can you give more info or video demonstration on this future ?+
