krpano : does it help me if I do not want to programm xml files?

I have no licence for krpano at the moment.
I have the impression that when I generate a virtual tour with autopano tour v.1.1.0. beta 7, the panorama online looks much worse then when I open the panorama in a viewer like irfanview. The generated panorama's are like 13888 pixels wide and since I removed lot of CA they look great in Irfanview, but lowres online.

Is this due to having no KRPANO license?

The license is not expensive for me as I can have it for 80 euro due to the fact I have some others licences already, but I would like to know.
I have no need for xml coding but more detail when zooming would be nice.

regards,

Hans

Hi Hans!

You need a KRPano license for AutoPano Tour. Otherwise your resolution is restricted in cubeface size afaik.

best, Klaus

Yes. There is a relatively low limit on the max. cube face size, and max. partial pano width, in Autopano 1.1 without a krpano licence.

Autopano Tour is being replaced by Panotour and Panotour Pro. When Autopano Giga V2.5 is finally released then it will no longer include a virtual tour authoring program. Autopano Tour will 'disapppear' and be replaced by PanoTour and Panotour Pro which will be marketed separately.

If you have an Autopano Giga licence you can get a free licence key for Panotour.

If you have an Autopano Giga licence and a krpano licence then you can have a free licence key for Panotour Pro.

If you are willing to purchase a krpano licence at the discounted fee then I would very much recommend that route to obtaining a Panotour Pro licence.

Here is more information and a description of how to obtain licence keys for Panotour and Panotour Pro:

That sounds great. For a while I was going crazy on finding why my pano's looked not as good as other people's pano's. Improved everything from nodal point settings to removing chromatic abberations to using tiff files. And now it turns out I can leap forward making such a small investments.
thanks for making my day!

Re: krpano : does it help me if I do not want to programm xml files?

the last part of the subject of my post "if I do not want to programm xml files?" has been in my mind for the last few days. I did see some wonderfull tours like the golfcourse in Finland (http://imagery.fi/virtualtours/annilatour/kartano.html) and I am convinced I should be able to make things like that. I should because I think that is a complete product.

I am schooled (University) to be an IT-guy and have been programming more then enoug in the past. Somewhere around 2002 I stopped while programming Visual Basic 6.0.

Now what would I need regarding programming skills. What languages would I need and is there a course specificly around KRpano or geared to making tours like the one I just mentioned?

Thanks ahead for your advice.

Cheers,

Hans

'Programming' the krpano Flash Panorma Viewer is mainly as 'simple' as scripting in XML format; there are also Javascript and Flash AS3 interfaces.

Autopano Tour/Panotour/PanoTour Pro are GUI front end XML format script generators for krpano Flash Panorama Viewer. Currently they do not offer access via the GUI to all the krpano features and functions.

If you have Autopano Pro and a krpano Licence, or Panotour Pro, then you can make the XML generated by the GUI authoring tools available for further editing to add additional features and functionality.

You can find the krpano documentation here:
http://krpano.com/docu/

Given your past training in IT and programming, if you inspect the XML generated by APT/PTP - you can use any text editor or a specialised XML editor - and compare that with the documentation I think you'll soon get some feel for it.

I am not aware of any course or tutorials in scripting for krpano.

it says "WARNING: Upgrade interface has still a little bug. It always offers only Windows upgrades for Panotour/Panotour Pro. Don't worry, it doesn't matter ! Licences are working on any platforms !"

My experience is a bit different, I could select all platforms, but only choosing the mac worked. It is strange but at least it worked and it was for free.

In general I think Kolor could raise it's sales if it would have someone knowledgeable look at their shop. At the moment I find it very confusing and hard to buy things.

Kind regards,

Hans Keesom
