NPP values for lenses...

I start this thread because I found on the net a link giving detailed infos for the Samyang 8mm fisheye CS lens
and in special it shows an image with the exact location of the NPP for different pano settings:

Source: http://michel.thoby.free.fr/SAMYANG/Ear … eport.html

how to shave it: http://www.autopano.net/forum/p56419-20 … -29#p56419

perhaps images for other well used lenses are around and could be posted here to create a sort of central point for this information...

Liebe Gruesse,
Georg

EDIT:
other sources:
NPP/Entrance Pupil Database: http://wiki.panotools.org/Entrance_Pupil_Database

EDIT 11.6.2010:
explanation of the Samyang picture:

2 x ß angel = rotation angle
NPP 60: fov = 120 (60 left 60 right to the middle axis)
(if you follow allans link from post #3 to nodal ninja page you can find link to http://www.johnhpanos.com/epcalib.htm with an link inside to Michael Thobys http://michel.thoby.free.fr/SIGMA8mm/Al … 20Beta.jpg (explainign the values for an sigma fisheye...)

Re: NPP values for lenses...

I came across this page on the NodalNinja website which has lots of values for how much to setback / offset the camera on the panohead for various camera / lens combinations.
http://www.nodalninja.com/support/camerasettings.html

The webpage has the following notification, but I suppose it is ok to provide the link.

> These settings are for the use of our customers and may not to be reproduced,
> copied or shared in any manner. Many of the settings have been submitted by
> the end user and as such we cannot guarantee the accuracy of every setting.

Re: NPP values for lenses...

Hi,
I'm trying to find OSP for Samyang and D300 on NN5.
Through other user's I started at LRS at 60 and URS at 97. However, I'm still testing for OSP / NPP.
Here is an image of my tripod. I'd like for you guys to take look and tell me, if any adjustments are necessary. Exposure of these shots was not the best, but it should be sufficient to see.
It's 6 around for purpose of evaluation. Otherwise, I shoot 4 around.
Thank you!

Re: NPP values for lenses...

The bottom right hand side looks longer edged than the others.

Have you tried the Nodal Ninja forum for an answer?  This tutorial on how to locate the NPP rather than zoning on two differently spaced verticals may also help

Re: NPP values for lenses...

Hi,
It seems to me that I found NPP, but center of my lens is

    not exactly centered
on NN5 "bulls eye", when I look down through the lens.  It is about 2 mm to the left. Is this possible? Test pictures seem to be fine.
I used this method to find NPP. Tomorrow I'll try Alain's method with a grid.

Re: NPP values for lenses...

When determining the NPP/OSP two factors are most important:

1. To get the LRS (lower Rail Setting) correct.

2. To have the camera sensor plane at 90 degrees to the upper rail.

Looking at your image - I'd say one or both are not correctly set.

As Hans Nyberg has demonstrated the URS is far less critical.

Thank you!
I'll work on it some more adhering to your pointers. Let you know soon.
Where can I see Hans Nyberg's demo?

Re: NPP values for lenses...

Hi,
Very interesting stuff on this forum, but for now I need to keep it simple and then make a progression into technical niche.
Here is my last attempt for today. Thank you for looking.
