Honestly:
do people these days need a help-screen or an explanation how to look at an interactive pano resp. an interactive tour?
Does anybody read what is shown in this boxes (i never do)?
I´m really curious about that. Doesn´t everybody move his/hers mouse around in a picture on a screen instinctively anyway?
I would like to share some thoughts . . .
best, Klaus

And that Klaus is why you are where you are today! ![]()

By all accounts, no, they don't. It seems you are more curious than most.![]()
Many on-line panorama and virtual tour producers have reported that if they don't use autoration then most users haven't a clue that you might be able to interact with the image.

Yes, we do need help screens. I have experience with people sitting passive watching the world spin around very slow...

Don´t you think two lines beneath the html window can do?
like here: http://www.360impressions.de/GelberSalon.html
it means:
"please push the mous-button and move around."
and
"To zoom use the mousewheel"

It's OK I guess, but I fele that you could make it rather more obvious to the user if you use the introduction/splash screen feature in APT/PTP.

Maybe - but i learned that people who aren´t used to a browser have difficulties to remember what they read when the splash-sreen is gone and the pano is running.
I think we shouldn´t understimate user´s abilities.

Yes... it's a problem... I put a set of instructions and have no problem on my site. A splash screen of instructions for my clients pano on there site is what I'll start adding.

Personaly I think it's nice to have the choice... People don't have those instinct sometimes. I've seen people trying to move the picture without clicking... Or sometimes they don't even try, because they don't know...
