Project files compatibility? Autopano Tour, Panotour and Panotour Pro

Are the project files created by Autopano Tour, Panotour and Panotour Pro all compatible and useable with each of these programs.

If not perhaps their project files should have different filename extensions/types?

It already seems a little 'odd' that Panotour Pro project files use the filename extension/type .apt.
