Placement of unlinked images

Hello Everyone,

When AP is forced to use all images in a set and it can't find CPs for all images, it dumps all the unlinked images in one place. I find that this makes it awkward to grab hold of the unliked images to move them into position. Why not have an option that puts them all on a new layer and arranged in sequence or grid? Or uses a fast heuristic to guess where they go eg if image N has no CPs then put it between N-1 and N+1

Re: Placement of unlinked images

my wishlist:
add a column in the layer window which indicates no of links so it could be easy to identify them and move them to a new layer

in combination with the possibility to pick/activate a picture from the list in the layer window

Re: Placement of unlinked images

Yes - I too have had a problem with images in a set - already linked by AP but put into separate panoramas after running Detect.  These linked images might easily be visually placed if a drag & drop feature is devised between the two windows - and as Aeriscera mentioned drop then onto a separate layer so the original is not messed up.  It might also be useful if a simple snap to grid type of feature is made available.  A 'best guess' position must be a simple mathematical calculation when knowing what is above and to one side etc.  I find that moving images to the periphery or 'near to' and then placing by trial & error a little tedious. If a final tweak is required at a larger magnification then the 'snap to grid' can be turned off.

I'm having very bad experiences with Smartblend as a noobie - but I understand I may need to obtain a velcibrator (two apparently) and perhaps increase my 8gb ram?  I'm checking the manual etc so as not to be a pain but it's frustrating using AP only to be gracefully taken out of the program because of an error...  At least the whole machine hasn't crashed yet.  I may be running before I can walk but I have used PhotoMatix for general photography.  Are we saying that Ap will deal with HDR (say 3 images shot at -2, 0, +2) and automatically produce an HDR stitched image?  If true I believe I must try one - maybe this weekend wink

We sometimes just need to realize that each one has his/her own world/mind and they don't live inside ours wink
It depends on where each one is right now. From time to time we may meet and share part of the trip.

Welcome to the AP forum Man.

You may find you will get more responses to your questions about Smarblend and HDR if you post them in the "Using Autopano" forum.

Just a thought,

A
