Thanks for finding all the alternatives for us, Claude!  All I had to do was connect a few wires together, fret a bit over which pin was which, read a manual or two to be sure of things, install Papywizard and IT JUST WORKS!  I will be out shooting tomorrow for sure.

I want to get going with this project. I bought the nokia and a tronisoft that was never shipped months ago. Now I want to buy what's necessary. Problem is, the picture on the suppliers web site has one little pcb  http://www.a7eng.com/products/bluetooth … 00-ser.htm

Claude's pix have some kind of adapter with the antenna?

What exactly did you buy and are you connecting via BT or Cable? ( I prefer not to have to do any soldering)

John give you the correct answer, on the picture you have the Parallax above and the other module is the Tronisoft kit who is on the pic just for "size" comparison !

If you buy the Parallax, do it at http://www.trossenrobotics.com/parallax … ppmod.aspx
They have experience wit this module and the module is in stock.
I can allways send to you a "Cable/Connector ready to use" free, just for the shipping costs!
In this case please Email me your "full" adress.

If you buy the "Ursa Minor" at http://www.teleskop-austria.at/prod.php … ntz-blt-hu,
this module is more expensive but you don't need to make a cable yourselve!
Normaly there is no problems for ordering but German can be a problem!
The best way is to send them a Email in English that you want to buy a module and that you are member of the forum ...
You will get all explanations for ordering in English and a price of 89 Euros as member of the forum.

Do you have allready a Merlin head and the cable between the Merlin and your camera ?

P.S. "Howard" have in the past placed an order for you to Tronisoft and was refunded by them after our intervention !

Thanks for the intervention on the tronisoft front and the info on the eb500. I haven't bought the Merlin yet, as it's no good without the interface. I bought an N3 adapter for my EOS. I'll have to dig out the details about the camera-end cable.

But you have the Calumet CF0061 wich can be used with a "3.5mm Stereo Plug to 2.5mm Stereo Socket Adaptor"

I finally found a wifi-to-serial module, which can be used with the Merlin head:

No, the module can be used in a ad-hoc config; in this case, it acts as an access-point, if I understood correctly, so it is transparent for the laptop. Then, you just connect on a network socket and send datas which are in turn written on the serial bus. And all datas incoming from the serial bus are sent back on the socket.

Papywizard already implement the networks socket driver, so there is nothing to do on this side. You just use system tools to connect to the device, like on any other AP. But I don't know how complex it really is to setup the module; this is why I want to buy one...

Well, I don't know for you, but I often have troubles with bluetooth, on every platforms. It is frequent that I have to reboot Windows so it sees again the bluetooth adapter, and even under linux, I have troubles with the service which manages the BT keypass

Tcp/IP protocol is much more universally implemented than BT stacks.

And, yes, we should obtain a longer range, but it is not that bad with BT (I don't plan to be too far from my camera so someone can pick it up before I can reach it!).

One question that comes to mind is the power consumption between Wifi and Bluetooth,  somehow I imagine Wifi to have more of a power drain than Bluetooth. This is probably why Bluetooth is used more in small portable devices.

I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if the WIFI solution worked?  I'd much prefer to use WIFI. I want to use it with my Mac Powerbook. I've bought my Merlin and I'm just trying to figure out the best way to configure it with my Mac. I own a Nikon D90
and I plan on using it with my Nikon 80mm to 400mm. Along with my Nikon fisheye. I own an Automate from Gadget Works but its a pain to use because of its Bluetooth connection fails more than it works. I've had it for 3 weeks. Wish I could return it...

Will the Mac Version of Papywizard work on an ITouch using WIFI?
