I saw several message here and there about high RMS in the v2 version. It's mainly due to one single reasons : the way we calculate have changed.
Nevertheless, don't try to rely just on that for the quality of stitch between 1.4.2 and 2.0.0 version. I take some time to make a comparative study.
Process :
- 5 cases picked up randomly on our database.
- default settings on both version => standard detection quality, lens distortion activated ( on 1.4.2 with advanced distortion ).
- 100% rendering smartblend with layer
- visual comparison under photoshop
Look at the resume. You see in fact the difference even if RMS are higher.
BTW : case 5 also illustrate the quality of the new circular crop detector than worked even on really dark images.

No doubt, global RMS is no more than a rough approximation of the rather elusive "stitch quality"... Removing source images corner from the stitched result when possible (= smaller crop circle) is another related but unanswered question ... ![]()
