Hello:
I have been trying for hours to stitch these 2 pictures, Autopano does not find matching points and its really fustrating. I have tryed reading through this forum but I have had no luck.
In essence I was hoping that someone would teach me how to get this done so that any future pics I can fix myself.
Here are the pics...

I have uploaded pics to photobucket for anyone that would like to help me complete this challenge ![]()

Estefano,
The problem is that your pictures have barely any overlap.
To get a good stitch you need 25%-30% overlap between the pictures.

Thanks, are these pics no good or is there anything I can do to try to stitch them?

They´re no spherical shots - therefore and due to the rare overlap no stitcher will do it.
But it should be no problem to combine them in Photoshop - though they need heavy perspective correction.

Was this stitch done with photoshop?

Hi Estefano,
No,
I have tryed with the laptop of a friend of mine with APP (older 1.3 version). Unfortunally as others before correct stated, there is to little overlap for a good/resonable stitch.
The picture is made with PTGUI... (sorry AlexandreJ )
Its not 100% but this is done quickly. If you would take some time you could get somewhat more quality, but again there is very very little overlap.
Greetings.
Rick

Done with APP 1.4.2. But how?

By using the control point editor, you can achieve a good result quickly :

I tried with the CP editor, but APP 1.4.2/linux can't find control points, even with high level detection, advanced distorsion and so. Strange...

My experience was the same - APP 1.4.2/WinXP - I think Alexandre must be using an alpha release of V2?

In the CP Editor I had to set both strong algorithm and high detector quality. Drawing the marquees, I included all the overlap - the island in the background on its own doesn't work, for me.
Also, doing a detection then removing the detected points then doing the detection again one gets a differing result - all the parameters remaining the same. See screenshots. Note: both these are before/without optimisation. You can see there are falsely detected points e.g. 11 and 23 in second example

Hum, not easy with the downgraded version available on the first topic.

there are also falsely detected points in the first one (e.g. 9). And there are a few points on waves and the sky. The points on the wood don't look so good either.
I tried it and got the same sort of results leedsjoe did -- CPs detected but not correct.
If you zoom in on the island and the smokestack (or whatever it is) you can see a building with windows. I could set manual CPs on them and get some sort of result--well, I could set manual CPs if APP let me set manual CPs.
This sort of error has been discussed before, and IIRC Alexandre was talking about adding another detection scheme to the CP editor for this error.

I confirm this one. Starting february, we'll have a person here dedicated to this only task during 5 months.

Alexandre,
Thanks for the point in your last post. Very interesting problem highlights need for additionally functionality!

BTW : a fully manual control point editor is also planned for v2. This will be done probably mid-december.

mid December 2008.....right??
Do we see the next alpha version by then?
Offline
We probably won't, as this is just 10 days away and manual CP editing is (was?) not planned for the next alpha...

Has this feature made it in the final version? I can't seem to find it but still miss it a lot. Couldn't find anything via the forum search, too...
If it's in, where should I look for it?

Couldn't make it for final. After we have done the documentation, we just have 2 features with really high priority : HDR and manual control point editor. Anything else will be postponed.
Offline
Good to know it hasn't been canceled. Thanks for the info!

I hope this solve my problem (http://www.autopano.net/forum/viewtopic … 271#p47271). I am waiting for this update. ![]()
