Most of the time you cannot get some pano done, it's easier to show than to tell. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words! After posting a topic, describing the problem, most of the time you will be asked to upload the photos, so we can try and reproduce the same case. This can help resolve a bug in Autopano Pro, or improve our support for a specific RAW format.
To make sharing your "problem projects" more simple, we are providing a free, anonymous FTP drop-box. You don't need user name or password - just log in as anonymous using your favorite FTP client or your OS-integrated FTP capabilities.
Note : what is drop-box FTP ? You can just upload files to it, but as a privacy measure you won't see what others have uploaded.
Before uploading, please follow this simple guideline :
1. Prepare a folder, containing all needed images and a project file (.pano) if applicable.
2. Write a small readme.txt file and keep it with the images
-- it should tell quickly what the problem is.
-- if it corresponds to a forum thread, please quote it.
-- give us an email to reply too when we look at this package. We often cannot relate the pictures to the author,
because email and name was not provided.
3. Compress the folder ( zip, tar.gz, rar ) and upload it. (How to compress a folder? See bellow.)
On Windows XP - In a normal Explorer window, paste the address from above in the address bar and press Enter. When the loading finishes, just drag and drop your files into the window. You should see an progress bar and that's it! - Or, you can use the freeware FTP client FileZilla
On Mac OS X - Press Apple+K. In the Connect dialog, paste the address from above in the Server address field and click Connect. A new Finder window will pop up. When the loading finishes, just drag and drop your files into the window. You should see an progress bar and that's it! - Or, you can use the freeware FTP client FUGU
On Linux - You can either use a tar.gz or a tar with bzip2 on it.
FireFTP If you're using Mozilla Firefox (on Mac or PC), you can use this great extension - FireFTP. Here's a simple guide: 1. After installation, access the FireFTP interface by Tools -> FireFTP 2. Click "Manage accounts" menu, choose "New..." 3. Type "Autopano FTP" as under "Account name" and "ftp.autopano.net" under "Host" (without the quotes) 4. Check the Anonymous box and click OK 5. Connect and and navigate to the /incoming/panoramas-tests/ folder 6. Click "Manage accounts" menu, choose "Edit..." and click the second tab - "Connection" 7. Click the "Use current" button, next to the "Remote" input field 8. Click OK and you're done!
We respect your privacy! All material you upload to our FTP will be kept confidential and will never be used for anything more than a test case. Our FTP has strict security rules that protect every user. We set it up as a drop box: you cannot see what others have been uploading or files inside a folder and you can only upload, no downloading allowed. Moreover, we keep our FTP clean and remove any files on it after we download them at the office.
Compressing a folder By "compress" I mean "ZIP" (the usual term in the Windows world) or "Stuff" (for the Mac users).
