Papywizard Import Filter

Frederic,

I have had a go with the Papywizard Import Filter in APG Alpha 2 - and made some very critical observations here:
http://www.autopano.net/forum/p35624-to … -54#p35624

Might it be possible for the XML data file header section to include a value for the total number of images defined in the file - this may obviously be more than a simple multiplication of no. of rows and columns if rewind/forward is used.

It could help the user to identify the images that need to be added when using the Papywizard import filter in APG, esp. if the import filter would read and display the header data during import process. That's another reason why I would have liked a value in the XML header where the user could enter the filename (or at least the numeric part, 4 digits with my D40)  of the first shot in the shoot in the Data tab of Configure, the system could then calculate and display the file number of the last image in the set, and could presumably automatically import those files?

As things are the Papywizard import filter in APG Alpha 2 won't work unless the no. of images selected for import by the user is the same as the number of images defined in the file - yet the user has no way of knowing how many images are defined in the XML file unless he/she opens and reads the XML file before going through the Papywizard import filter process.

It is all very clumsy at present - I feel there must be some way of making it more useable and user-friendly.

Papywizard is very good now - but the Papywizard import filter, as currently implemented, sucks, and APG Alpha 2 is a mass of bugs.

APG/APPV2 + Merlin/Papywizard are a system - each element of which needs to be equally competent/'strong' if the system is to perform well as a whole - sadly that is currently far from being realised.
