Merli - shutter signal

How is the is Hi/Low-voltage-scheme that the Merlin fires to trigger the remote shutter?

As my Olympus does not match with the Merlin I have to make an adapter which does the right conversion, but unfortunately my meter isn't fast enough to show me what then Merlin does.

So any help is welcome.

Re: Merli - shutter signal

Paul,

I thing that the triggering of the camera is made by "contact closure" potential free !

Frederic can confirm ?

You can measure very easy but giving a longer value of the "exposure lenght" in the configuration of Papywizard ...

Re: Merli - shutter signal

The Merlin trigger the camera by closing an opto-coupler: it acts more or less like a relay, so does not provide any voltage.

As I understand, the Merlin does not fire your Olympus? Try to remove the jack from the Merlin, and make a short circuit on its contacts: this should trigger the camera. If it works, then try to revert the wires in the jack. The opto-coupler can only drive the current in one direction, and your Olympus is maybe reverted.
