Bluetooth - totally beginner question

Thanks to Tommy the replacement Merlin arrived and works!

Now the first problem:
I have to set the bluetooth-module to 9600 baud and don't know how.

PC with BT-Dongle <-----> BT-Module with TTL interface connected to Merlin (BT-Module default: 57600baud)
or
N770 <------>  BT-Module with TTL interface connected to Merlin (BT-Module default: 57600baud)

ATL1 will set the BT-Module to 9600
but I am to stupid to do that

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

I don't know what is your BT module, but I think you just have to connect to it on the serial side to you computer, then use Hyperterminal to send it the 'ATL1' string...

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

Paul,

You don't need to do anything at the Nokia 770 end of the connection.

Which RS232-BT adapter do you have on the Merlin end of the connection? Is it a Tronisoft BTLink?

What BT dongle do you have on your PC? Is it a Windows PC? If so what version of Windows are you running?

No RS232-BT adapter as the BT-Module BTM-222 has TTL already.

Pentium D with Windows XP and a USB Silicon Wave Bluetooth Wireless Adapter

I think that I need a RS232-TTL-Converter to connect the BT-Module first to the PC and set it to the correct baudrate or is there a way to do that via the BT-connection?

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

No, I think you can also connect it through the BT link from your BT adapter software (search for SPP or so)... In fact, it will create a new pseudo-COM port, port you will use from Hyperterminal.

What documentation do you have for this device? Does it say nothing about setting the baud rate?

Did that come with any software or are you using the XP built-in driver?

I see the BTM-222 on COM22 as SPP
but no reaction when I try to send "AT"-commands via a terminalprogram

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

Paul,

For my information ...

How do you supply power to the BTM-222 ?
Is that not a 3,3 V operation ?

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

I use a module from Peter Plischka, he made a BTM-222 based module, powered with 5V
http://plischka.at/Funk_Bluetooth.html

I step-down Merlins 12V with a regulator to 5V

so I hope once set to 9600baud that there is no need for a TTL-RS232-converter and that I can place the BT-Module inside the Merlin

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

Hi Guys,
I'm a bit confused about this 9600baud stuff.

I am going the "Claude-way" and order from Trinisoft, after green light.
My N770 could connect BT with my nephews Macbook and cellphone without all that baud stuff.

Can I expect an extra problem, to configurate the module,
or is this purely a Notebook to Merlin-BT-module problem ??

I think this may be what you need to connect the module to a PC to program the baud rate?

Quoting from the page you provided the link for:
"Zum einfachen Anschluß an den PC benutze ich ein Handy USB-Datenkabel (USB-Datenkabel für SGH E700 E330 E630 X640 E800). Es stellt die 5V Versorgungsspannung zur Verfügung und liefert den Sende- und Empfangspegel mit TTL Level (5V)."

Or maybe I misunderstood the computer translation of this page.

Anyway I guess Peter Plischka can tell you what to do to set the baud rate.

Did you first put hyperterminal in 19200 baud, as it is its default baudrate?

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

my late evening wiring

first success:
Papywizard Win talks to the BT-Module hooked to a RS232-TTL-Converter

(the Arduino is just abused to power the BT-Module)

You are going to need a big box to put that lot in lol

I guess you just didn't like the Tronisoft module+BTlink adapter solution? Oh, I forgot you wish to mount the interface inside the head.

Re: Bluetooth - totally beginner question

todays success:

Papywizard is running via bluetooth on PC with windows and on N770
as my BT-module connects direct to TTL I need only a LS7805 voltage regulator

Papywizard is running serial on PC with windows
with RS232-TTL converter

next step:
optocoupler to release the cam as my Oly has a different wiring than Canon or Nikon
