Hello,
I'm posting because I 'm not be able to build any panorama anymore.
I used to build my pano with the 1.3 version and when a switch to 1.4.2 version my workflow doesn't work anymore.
I use jpeg picture from my Ixus 40.
After the detection process, I go in HDR mode and then apply the Tone Mapping RH2. And since i switched to 1.4.2 version, my pano become black just after the activation of the Tone Mapping function.
But it works if I stay in mode without no color correction or in auto mode , my panno don't become black
Do I made a mistake ?
I don't understande why my workflow worked before and desn't with the new version.
Thanks,
Bruno

Hi Bruno, I'm not sure I can help you as I have now APP v1.4.2 and APG 1.9Alpha.
Starting from JPEG pictures from Canon Ixus 40, I don't really understand the interest to use HDR mode and Tone mapping under APP. Do you have bracketed pictures ? How did you do that ? CHDK firmare change ?
If you have just single JPEG pictures, I guess that you should keep only LDR/Auto color correction

I choose HDr format according to to the section dedicated to color correction in the wiki
http://www.autopano.net/wiki/action/vie … Brightness
Which explain how to Choose the Right Correction Mode
"If the blender you chose does not by itself level variations between the source images, two simple and quick options are
* Large variations between the source images:
o choose the HDR correction
o In the Filter menu, choose Tone Mapping Rh2 and use the top slider "(Key) to modify the image "
I have large variation in my different image, so I thought It was better to use HDR mode, wasn't it ?

I certainly would not assume that you should use HDR mode colour correction. Try Auto or LDR colour correction and play with colour anchors to see what result you get.

Ixus 40 is not ideal for pano shooting because AFAIK it does not allow manual setting of shutter speed and aperture - not even setting of aperture priority. Ideally panos should be shot using full manual exposure settings with the same settings for every shot in the pano. OTOH I read that the Ixus 40 does allow custom manual white balance to be set and I would certainly advocate that you did that. I also suggest that you experiment with scene modes that may serve to control/limit exposure variation a bit. If there is a scene mode for panoramas then use that - I see there is a scene mode call Stitch Assist, try that, it may lock the exposure for a number of shots based on the first shot in the series?
If shooting outdoors in reasonable light you should not have too much of a problem even with auto exposure settings - indoors is another story.

Hi Bruno,
I confirm with APP v1.4.2 or APG 1.9 Alpha1 : if I activate HDR color correction then enable ToneMapping RH2 or RH4, I can only get black preview. With Color correction set to none or Auto/LDR, I get usable colored render. Note: I've often the 'optimize on any anchor change' unchecked in the anchors editor tool, changing from HDR to LDR in the list doesn't recalculate the preview, I need to desctivate then re-activate ToneMapping or open the anchors editor tool and click on [optimize] button.
I didn't play with RH parameters as my pano generaly are good enough with LDR color correction and playing with fix/yellow anchor as suggested by mediavets. When my pano is good and uniform, with levels using the full histogram range, I render the pano. I can always improve the final result for color enhancement or local contrast, especially in shadows, with picture editor.
