panotour on iOS device fatal error: xml parsing failed

Hello all,

I've been looking in the forum for a few days but I couldn't find a way to solve my problem, so I decided to register myself and post my issue.

I'm using the last release of PTP V1.8.0 64 bits. I created my tour choosing standard tour for PC and tour for mobile devices options.
I placed an hotspot linking to an html file (album.html)
Content of the album.html file is as follows (copy/pasted from another thread on this forum about parsing issues)

Code:

<html>

<body>
This is a test
</body>

</html>

plain and simple
album.html is in the same directory as the main html file.

On my local PC everything works fine on firefox 18.0.1 and explorer 9; I then decided to try the iOS version.
Safari, with iphone and ipad user agent, works fine too, but when I click the hotspot, "this is a test" text appears outside of the new generated square (on the bottom left).
I then uploaded the tour on a free hosting site (honestly I used PTP autofunction to avoid adding mistakes) and placed album.html in the same directory, to test it remotely;
as expected it works fine on FF, IE and safari (default user agent); on iPhone, loading the page, the result is
"FATAL ERROR:
album.html - xml parsing failed!"
Same applies to safari with iDevice user agent

If I clear the album.html file content, everything works fine online too (I leave the album.html file empty). Clicking on the hotspot opens a blank white square.
I need to solve the .html hotspot link issue to be able to add an easily updateable content.
I tried to link to an URL, instad of the html option, but the result is leaving the tour to load another webpage, not practical, neither nice to see.

Thank you for taking care reading this and have a nice day.
Any help will be much appreciated, alternative solutions/ideas on easily updateable external content too!

It's sad no one had an idea on how to solve my problem, I guess I'll better raise a ticket on support. Thank you for reading this.

Re: panotour on iOS device fatal error: xml parsing failed

Hello Almat,

I've noticed this error also a few times before. I am not sure, but may be it's because the image resolution / size of the photos is too large on an iOS device?

Hope you'll hear from support. Can you share the outcome?

As of today I still haven't got any answer from support, not even an email stating "we are looking at your request" or " we can't solve your problem" ;it's disappointing, furthermore the pro version is the most expensive. I'll keep this post updated as soon as i get any news.

I can confirm somewhat similar peculiar results.

I linmked a rectangular hotspot to an HTML file (link/HTML) with these simple contents:

Code:

<p>This is a test</p>

Viewing with Safari on Windows XP/32 with user-agent set for Windows it loads the Flash version of the tour and behaves as expected - see screenshot 1.

Viewing with Safari on Windows XP with user-agnet set for iPad it loads the HTML/javacript (HTML5) version of the tour and behaves incorrectly, with the text displayed outside the box lower left - see screenshot 2.

When you then click the 'X' to close the HTML pop-up you get an error message - see screenshot 3.

I think this suggests that the Link/HTML feature may not work on iDevices for tours created with PTP V1.8.

Link/HTML uses the krpano textfield plugin which may not be fully supported on iDevices with krpano 1.0.8.14, which is the version of ]krpano incorporates in PTP v.1.8. The latest version of krpano is 1.0.8.15.
