Hi all,
My Nokia N810 died... probably because I didn't use it for a month.
I tried charging the battery external, which worked, but now I can only get the N810 to start up when I keep the power button pressed.
I can use my 810, but as soon as I release the powerbutton it shutsdown.
So... what can I use now to control my Panogear?

Unlikely I've done that many times.

Does it work when powered from the charger?

Probably worth getting a new battery in the fisrt instance to be certain your N810 is 'dead'.
.............
Where are you located I could sell you an N810 with a UK keyboard or an N800.

Hi Mediavets.
No, it does not work from just the charger, or both the battery and the charger.
My battery delivers power certainly, because it starts all the way to the mainscreen as long as I keep the powerbutton pressed.

And what happens next.....after it gets to the mainscreen if you continue to keep the power button pressed?

I can do everything. It really all works.
But one has to release the button at some point ![]()

I seem to have vague recollection of something similar.
I have an idea that it was an issue with the battery, but I may be wrong.
I also seem to recall that reflashing the OS may have helped resolve the issue.
But this is all just vague recollections andmay be entirely false memories.

Ok, well do I remember correctly that for flashing, I need to hold the Minus button (volume -) and the powerbutton?

Coonect N810 via USB cable to PC running Nokia Internet tablet Software Update Wizard, then press and hold the Swap key (uppermost of the two flush keys on left side of screen) and power up the tablet.
When the USB icon is displayed top right of the N810 display then release Swap key.
Proceed to update (flash) OS using the Update Wizard.
...........
If the battery is faulty this isn't going to work.
...........
If you have previously downloaded the latest version of the Maemo OS and have it stored on yoyr PC there is no need to download it again.
Instead at the relevant point in the process point the updater software to the OS file on your PC.

Sometimes removing and reinstalling the battery can 'reset' things I've found.
