Panotour Pro 1.8 crashes and stops responding when loading file

Every now and then Panotour just refuses to open a previously saved file and I have to start all over from scratch. This time it happened in the middle of a large project and I really don't want to recreate four hours of work. Any suggestions?

Re: Panotour Pro 1.8 crashes and stops responding when loading file

Hello Aaron,

Can you send us your project file ? Only the "*.kpt" file. I do not need the panoramas or the other ressources of the project.
You can send it to contact@kolor.com .

Did you try to edit the project *.kpt file with a basic text editor ?
(This file is an XML file that can be opened with any text editor. You just have to care to not re-save it with this editor if the editor does not manage UTF-8 encoding.)
Is the end of the file "readable" ?

Re: Panotour Pro 1.8 crashes and stops responding when loading file

I looked at the .kpt in Notepad, hoping there was something that could be edited to revive it. I didn't write to it though. It is editable as far as permissions, etc. go and I saw no corruption in it. I'll email it over to you.

I really wish there was an import feature from .kpt to salvage projects and import previous work when merging separate projects into a larger one instead of recreating everything (which I occasionally do).

Re: Panotour Pro 1.8 crashes and stops responding when loading file

Just a wrap up note, Gérald was able to fix my project file for me so I didn't have to start over. Yay!!! Here was his reply:

  Hello Aaron,

Your project file contained 2 erroneous spots on the Bing map.
The panorama on which they were linked was badly described in the project file.
I removed the 2 spots from the PanotourMaps plugin, so you'll have to check the hotspot editor of the PanotourMaps to re-add these spots correctly.
But as those spots were at the same GPS coordinates as another valid spot, I do not think that you really need them.

You can try the modified project file I send you, I think you will not have a crash anymore.

  Best Regards,
  Gérald
