I bought Autopano after a long evaluation because it seems to be the most professional, taking into account all aspects of making one picture out of a sum of various shots.
My Problem: I am very astonished, that there is no menu option for the perhaps simpliest task, to stich planar scans out of a flatbedscanner (original aquarel paintings of the size A2 - A3). I did try different things as well setting the focal lenght to the maximum of 1000mm. Thats not enough. There is no infinity value, therefore there is no seamless fusion of the pictures. Can anybody help for this ruther standard question ?
Thank you very much.
When does come the promised update for this point?
Thank you for your help

Welcome to the forum...
I have to ask, if you wanted to stitch flatbed scans and undertook a 'long evaluation' how come you didn't discover this before purchase?
APP/APG is not designed to handle those kinds of stitches really; nor are any other panorama stitching programs for that matter.
Not sure this guide will help either:

Thank you very much for your answer. I bought the APP because I do photo panoramas as well, and it brings in a few steps a perfect fitting with all options to optimize to perfection - and it runs very good on iMac. There was no flag "Attention it does no scans". For me it is not understandable, that just the simpliest projection (orthogonal) of stiching (planar scans without distortions, no focal lengh compensation) shall not be possible. When I google "stitch scans" the result is mostly a panorama software. It is not another matter, but only the simpiest case of panorama stitching.
Is your proposed "multiple viewpoint" option available in APP 3.0 or do I have to update to APG? Do you think it could optimize the solution? How can I upgrade to APG 3.0?
Thank you again for your help.

The only panorama stitching software I'm aware of that (as I recall) makes some claim to be able to handle orthogonal is Microsoft ICE - did you find other software too?

You could also try Hugin, that's free too:

Multiple viewpoint is exclusive to APG.
You can upgrade from your Kolor account. But....I would suggest you download and try APG before upgrading because it may not produce the results you seek.

All *panorama*-stitchers assume images shot from ONE POINT: the NoParallaxPoint. Theh camera/lens combination rotates around that point. Naturally that means a spherical projection - but it can be rendered to cylindrical or planar projection also . . but only for a certain amount.
What you use is very different: you virtually move the camera/lens parallel to the object resp. you physically move the object parallel in y and y to the camera.
The 10000mm trick does work fine for stitching long distance-shots like air-photography. But you not only move the camera resp. the object parallel instead of spherical - you also do so on very close distance!
NO panorama-stitcher in the world will easily handle that. They have the name "panorama-stitcher" for some reason . . ![]()
Did you try Photoshop (sorry when it was asked before - i didn´t read all answers)?
As Andrew mentioned ICE may do it . . or you need to look for another dedicated solution for this kind of work. I bet there are solutions! Look for "parallel stitch" or "linear stitch" or "assemble images" or so . . .
best and good luck, Klaus
