blending -- favor in focus vs. out of focus

It'd be great if the long focal length preservation vs. cutting choice used "more in focus" or "areas with more high frequency detail" to chose where to blend when the focal lengths are the same. I tend to refocus each photo in the panorama, and have to go back and manually blend to choose the more in focus areas. Helicon focus and zerene stacker aren't good at big jumps in focus and wide angle focus stacking.
