XY Position

Hi..

For a while now I have realised the value of knowing the XY Position of the mouse to locate a Hotspot, Menu Button or even the XY position to facilitate the editing of the xml code for goto a feature using a location button. If the mouse could pin-point the XY position where the data could be added would make it a lot easier and quicker.

This link below is just a test but is not right since it is only relates to the browser window but you will get the point I am making. krpano does provide code for XY coordinates but as far as I can see its just for static images.. Not much different to what i have here where the XY is displayed bottom left of the browser window.. I tried to replicate the krpano code for a pano with little success..

Re: XY Position

Thanks Andrew.. very interesting.. I tested the first one but its not what I am looking for.. I am going to test what Gérald suggested next..  I am sure it is possible which will make a great XY reference tool....

There is an arrow top right on this link which drops down.. http://members.westnet.com.au/dps/xymou … ltour.html

I am also looking at the other links you provided too... Thank you..

I did a search on the krpano forum too but I couldn't find what I was wanting to achieve..

Re: XY Position

Hi.. Well I tried out the above suggestions with no success.. sad  Klaus-krpano put up a plug-in on his forum but I couldn't get it to work even using a krpano generated pano.. I can see the code makes sense.. but I must be missing something..

I will stick with it until I have worked it out..

Re: XY Position

Hi...

Well... I tried heaps of options but none worked as I wanted.. I soon discovered that I need two X Y coordinates trackers. One that  takes is reference from the Browser window with a reference to the 0 being the middle of the window with - X and + X.. - Y and + Y.... etc.

The second would provide a reference within the tour it self, 360X180 for plotting the exact X Y position of the hotspot or goto reference to features within the tour..

All a bit beyond my skills.. I feel these would be very valuable and useful tool sets...

This test shows how it might work... I located the data window bottom right but even that could be dragable.. It would be a simple matter of taking the reference coordinates and applying them to the xml code..

http://members.westnet.com.au/dps/xymouse/2/XYZ.html

Obviously no good but its just a demo.. A round dragable transparent spot with a X in the centre might be the way to go..

Re: XY Position

Hi, Yes I have seen it... but it take its reference from the top left and its a static image..  Its not much difference from mine using html code.. Mine has the display bottom left http://members.westnet.com.au/dps/xymou … nates.html
and also takes it reference from the top left... I am after -/+ with a reference point from the centre... Anything left of centre would be -X and anything right of centre will be X.. All positive Y from bottom up.. and that is for the browser window where the menu buttons take their reference from... Hotspots will be a very different thing.. Its killing my brain working it out.. The idea would be to have a template pano with a grid for reference. I am working on having movable dummy hotspots that show their positions.. and dummy menu buttons showing their reference XY.... I think its more of a utility..

Thank you for researching this...

Re: XY Position

Yipeee.... Klaus-krpano came up with this.. http://krpano.com/examples/10815/exampl … spots.html

He is just amazing.. I never forget that it is his coding I am using almost every day..

Now I just have to add my own features  to turn it into a usable template..

Re: XY Position

Stage 1 will be a template for reference to the hotspots location within the pano. Probably the more complicated template..

http://members.westnet.com.au/dps/XYcoo … ltour.html

Stage 2 will be for the menu buttons.. Which will take its reference from 0 centre of the browser window..

In what way is this so much different from the example you previoulsy rejected:

http://krpano.com/examples/10812/exampl … mouse.html

Both report spherical co-ordinates.

As you can see from these screenshots it does pan for me when I click-drag with a mouse using Firefox on Windows XP/32.

I can also pan when viewing with Internet Explorer and Safari.

Yes, I see it... I just tried it using Opera.. and it works.. but it doesn't work in Safari.. Very strange.. Thats why I was looking at other options.. The coordinates shows as I move the mouse but not the actual pano.. Now that is a puzzling thing.. No wonder you were confused with me...

With Firefox, and Safari and Internet Explorer, on Windows XP/32 the co-ordinates are updated when I move the mouse alone and when I drag the pano.
