How to create a cylindrical panorama?

Hello together,

I want to create a cylindrical panorama from six photos I have taken, but the result is terrible.

The photos I have taken with a Wallimax 8mm Fisheye sony alpha 77. Which setting I have to choose in autopano giga?

Since now I used these ones:

For getting help maybe it would be clever to show the result here . . winkcool

Re: How to create a cylindrical panorama?

It would be better if you could post the photos (or a link to them) so that we can try to stitch them.

Re: How to create a cylindrical panorama?

For your information: the picture will not be toured with pano tour pro. It´s for a client who wants these specifications:

Virtual Tours.
Cylindrical virtual tour files are ideal.
Ideal Image Size: Minimum of 7000 pixels wide x 1750 pixels high.
Ideal Aspect Ratio: 4:1 height to width ratio.
Ideal File Types: Cylindrical JPEG or MOV

You may find these links to imformation about image projections useful:

Here is your image cropped using a 4:1 aspect ratio.

Is this what you (and your client) expect and require?

I presume your client actually meant a width to height ratio of 4:1?

Yes he did!

The ratio of 4:1 is ok, but the result is not what I expect. When I import that for example into krpano and create a tour, then the result is not good. The horizontal lines are very curved, even the vertical lines at the right and the left of the image.

At the end it should look like this:

He is using this player, but I can not download it, to test it. http://flashpanoramas.com/player/

See my screenshot below - vertical lines look straight enough to me - if you have define the pano FOV correctly; even though Panotour and Panotour Pro do not support images with a cylindrical projection as input.

AFAIK there is no trial version of this software.

If your client is using the Flash Panorama Player (for which there is as yet only a Flash version, no version for iDevices or non-Flash Android platforms) then he's probably using Flashificator (a GUI front end for that player) to build his tours:

Is your client compalining about the pano images you have provide him that meet his spec.?

Besides this looks terribly retouched and is of very low resolution - a cylindric pano these days seems somewhat outdated i mean.

So the best way (in my eyes) would be to build it as a sphere and - if your client still want it - restrict the vertical angle in the xml
to show it like a cylinder.
Then you can display it on iDevices too.

I agree but if his client doesn't understand this nor want spherical panos ....

His client is creating the tours....his client uses Flash Panorama Player, which at present is only available in a Flash version.

Well - maybe the client simply doesn´t know there is an alternative . . .
