Great news. Until now, i didn´t make a decision which netbook to buy as portable control unit. Being able to choose between windows and adroid as platform for papywizard gives more choices for the hardware.

And if you are seeking for a pattern generator for panorama use ... i know where you can find this smile i would be glad if you include a link in papywizard documentation, or make a sticky in the forum.

Hi Chris!

Instead of spending some hundred bucks for a netbook running PW i suggest to buy a TC handheld. It´s optimized to operate the head, small as a cigarette package, has no boot-zime, is independent from changing OS and Bluetooth and definitely is much more comfortable to operate. And in combibnation with Josef´s batteryholder and accus the Merlin gets a speed-boost.

I´ll drop you a PN.

best, Klaus

Hi Klaus,
yes, i know about the advantages of the TC controler. Light as a feather, very small, power consumption near zero.

But my thoughts concerning a netbook are ... when being abroad, a netbook is nut just a controler, it is a complete (but slooooow) computer that gives me the chance to have a first look at the fotos for  "aha, they are good" or "must be redone". And it is much smaller than the aging Laptop i have now.

greetings to Düsseldorf
Chris

Re: Android ... possible?

Thanks for the welcome!

Has anyone tried using a Rasberry Pi <http://www.raspberrypi.org/> to run the papywizard software?

This seems like a great option - cheap, portable and low on power consumption.

Re: Android ... possible?

Mmm, that's a good idea! I will try to install all Papywizard dependencies on my RPi, to see if it can work.

Re: Android ... possible?

Perhaps it will be possible to run Papywizard on a Smartphone after all?

Ubuntu operating system comes to Android smartphones:

Re: Android ... possible?

I got myself a Raspberry Pi and everything works very nicely!

I can remote desktop from my laptop into the R Pi with an Ethernet connection, get Papywizard running, then disconnect the connection and everything runs nicely.

I have a 12V 7Ah Li ion battery to run the Merlin and a DC/DC converter to give me the 5V for the P Pi to run this thing for long time lapse sequences.

I'm just about to start the first field tests on location in Iceland!!

Fingers crossed it goes well.

Re: Android ... possible?

Hi Claude,

The R Pi is connected using a USB to Serial to 5V cable, with the Merlin connector soldered on. Works a dream!
