Papywizard driving stepper motor(s)

Is it possible to drive two off the shelf stepper motors directly with Papywizard?

Re: Papywizard driving stepper motor(s)

Do you mean 2 more motors (yaw, pitch, mot1 and mot2)? Or 2 stepper motors, for yaw and pitch?

Re: Papywizard driving stepper motor(s)

I'm thinking two motors total, without the use of a Merlin or Orion interface. The application would be for an X Y linear motion stage.

Re: Papywizard driving stepper motor(s)

I'm not sure Papywizard is the right choice.

First, you will need to write a new plugin to drive your electronic (what controller do you plan to use?).

Second, Papywizard 'speaks' angles, not mm...

There are better softwares to fit your needs.

This would be Arduino controlled with Easydrivers or other motor driver.  I'm not a programmer so the plugin necessity puts the brakes on it right there : ).

What is your final usage?

We are working on  a DSLR based film scanner requiring an automated XY stage to transport the film beneath the camera, followed by stitching to assemble.

Re: Papywizard driving stepper motor(s)

Interesting project! Do you have a link? I also plan to scan all my films using such DSLR wink

I think all can be done within the Arduino. There are plenty of examples to drive motors and LCD, read keys, communicate with PC through serial or USB... Unless you really need a complex GUI, I would not use anything else. You will then have a compact, autonomous and robust system, easy to debug. It will be more an integration exercise than a full dev.. That's the nice point with Arduino wink

And the Arduino community is so large that you will get all the help you need.
