The Canon lens lack a handle
Makes it difficult to bring along.
maybe it's too heavy for my VRdrive2 too.

Maybe - but i´m sure it would look a bit funny . .
But on the other hand i´m also sure this device would impress (potential) clients enormously ![]()

I have asked my shootpatterngenerator ... it tells me 10692 shots for a (theoretically) 650 mm lens at full frame, 30% overlap ... doubling the focus quadrupels the shots ... for a 5200 mm must have 64 times ... that gives 684288 shots ... hmm, well, i need a bigger accumulator. And bigger cf card.
greetings from germany
Chris
ps.: please, dont tell me who can pay for the 5200mm can pay for an accumulator too.
ps2 @kolor: how much ram will i need to stitch a 684288 shot spherical pano? (no, just kidding)

you would need:
assuming a Canon 5D Mark III:
(22.3mp * 4 * 684288 )/1024/1024 =
58,21 Terabyte Scratch Disc so with an optimum ration of 1:2 you would need 29,1 Terabyte RAM and with a ratio of 1:4 finally 14,55 Terabyte RAM

1300mm @f12.7 then you need a sturdy tripod and bright light.
my OM-D has stabilizing in the body, but I don't think Oly thought anybody would need stabilizing a lens like this ![]()

not sure who the hell is looking up at me since its a bit blurrred.. ![]()
