virtual tour with paintings

Hello,

I've made a virtual tour through a museum.
Now I want to put pictures of the paintings inside the tour.
I tried to do this with the rectangle tool but then it is part of the 'tour'.
Id like to have a normal pictures showing up that I can click away.

Does anyone know what I mean and know the solution?

Thanks! Adriaan.

Yes. You need to have the paintings extra and link from the tour to this ones and back from the paintings into the tour, where you left it:

http://www.360impressions.de/Grisebach (click the green dots below some paintings).

Another approach here: http://360impressions.de/MKPTour/ (again use the green dots)

best, Klaus

There is a 'trick' that allows you to create a 'flyout' image that I think will do what you want.

Using the larger image specify this image as both the Display/object and the Link/object for a rectangular hotspot drawn over the painting on the wall of the museum.

When you click on the hotspot the image will flyout to display the larger version, click on the flyout image and it goes back again.

Is this what you want to achieve?

If you go to http://alsofjeerbent.nl/panoramas/kinde … e/Picasso/ and then to the eetruimte you can see you can the hotspot with the paper icon. click on it and the photo appears, click on photo and it disappear. It is just a simple hotspot.

Re: virtual tour with paintings

I don't quite understand what you mean but I will explain the solution of the problem I suppose you have.
You want to click on the picture so the larger version would pop up in the screen
The variant I would choose is to draw a polygon hotspot over an image and set the color of the polygon field and outline to "alpha 0", then write "view" in the Tooltip field and put a link to an object (in your case a jpg file to a photo of the picture (just don't forget to resize it or set the width and height to something like 900x600 px))
Using this variant you will have a tour in which the pictures look normal (without any dot or colored polygon hotspots) but when the mouse arrow is over a picture it turns into a handcursor with a "view" sign - and when you click it - it goes full screen.

Hans, Gund - the question is:
does he need to zoom into the paintings? (MKPTour)
does he need to provide additional information with the paintings? (Grisebach)

best, Klaus

Re: virtual tour with paintings

Thanks for al the answers.
I read it all and for me the best solution is the anser from Andrew Stephens (mediavets) to make a rectangle hotspot at the painting. And link this to an object (jpg).

But thank you all for the great responce!

Regards, Adriaan.

Hi.. Rec Hotspots is the easiest but if you are feeling adventurous you could try using HTML5 features and use a hotspot.. This is just a mockup..

Re: virtual tour with paintings

Opps forgot about IE..  but firefox should have been fine.. I get strange issues only with IE...
Actually I do care, since I am always aware of anything I make.. correction.. mostly aware.. of my interactive contents working on all browsers.. I think the way forward is javascript.. I think I will work on that over the next few weeks.. I am sure that can be done with a nice effect that works on all PC/Mac and their browsers.

We are only getting these issues since we are being directed into using HTML5 and webGL etc.. by Apple. If they only would embraced flash so we could use AS3 to create some awesome effects.. There are two main issues as to why they are not as far as I am aware.. One being flash is power hungry but I have no idea why this is so... Surly with all the new technology coming this will not be an issue long term.. Also, is a security issue, but all other options have security issues too..

Destiny - what the hell are you talking about? Apple ignores Flash only on iDevices - on desktops Apple runs Flash of course and it works great . . .

Regarding iDevices - and also Androids btw. - Flash is power-hungy because it needs a certain amount of processor-power to operate fluently.
Mobile devices didn´t have that when it all started. In the meantime their processors get stronger and they have more RAM. But nevertheless Flash sucks the batteries empty very fast.

Flash on desktops will live on for a long time - html5 and js will hardly be able to substitute Flash for years.

Re: virtual tour with paintings

emmm.... You often miss the point Klaus and then go off on one of your journeys.. Of course Apple facilitates the use of Flash, but you failed to understand what I was suggesting... partly due to the fact you only quoted part of my statement..

....."use AS3 to create some awesome effects..

AS3 (Action Script) doesn't use a lot of power since it very much like javascript. and I was only referring to HTML5 and webGL since these options are so far off the mark at the moment, as a consequence the HTML5 example I posted would not work on all PC and Mac browsers but IF Apple embraced Flash fully, including iDevices, we would not have the issue we have with HTML5 or webGl since we would be able to use AS3 which has been around for years..

Well - maybe you should be a bit more precise with what you write (not only in this case, sorry) . . . "use AS3 to create some awesome effects" . . . is somewhat fuzzy when you said before "if Apple only embraced Flash" . . . without specifying what you mean in detail . . .

Since iDevices are on the market it´s very well known that Apple doesnt´t support Flash on them - and never will.
Flash on mobiles meanwhile is a dead cow - not only with Apple´s iDevices. So we use alternative solutions on iDevices which work fine - ok: some flippyfloppy, kinkydinky stuff doesn´t work then  . . . but that´s not a pity at all i would say . . . . big_smile

Ok - for avoiding to "go off on one of (my) journeys" cool i´ll better generally stop to go into what you write wink

Re: virtual tour with paintings

I think in less the five years flash will be gone. Adobe gave up on flash long ago - they no longer develop this technology. Here everyone is happy - especiallly the web-developers that usually hate flash - I'm always adviced not to start learning flash but dive more into JS and html5 as it is usually refered to the future of web-graphics.

When I go to the Destiny's  link - ther is some weird mind-breaking projection of a flat picture in my Firefox 17

Re: virtual tour with paintings

Hi, well we can all predict.. After Adobe bought out Macromedia during the turbulent years of many software engineering companies going belling up things have been uncertain. I guess its always been uncertain.. Personally I love flash and AS2 and AS3 and yes, one day it will die a death, and yes I think within 5 to 10 years.. .. but javascript will be here for ever.. HTML5 in many ways has been around for many years in the form of XHTML or HTML4, but we never called it that.. webGL is very interesting but I think that has a very very long way to go.. Very clever stuff you can create with that... I think flash will die due to a lack of maintenance and support where we begin to see flash web sites like mine fall apart under different browsers. I did not know about my web site in Firefox, I thought it was stable.. Looks like I have to remake it using javascript..

Anyway, back with this thread, I am working on a better way to view a painting on a wall.. Its working fine so now I will now try to get this into a pano via a call..

emm.. My brain hurts.. after an epic coding session..rollroll  I will have to learn to right things down.. I have forgotten how I did it.. sad

I will put some navigation menus on later.. Like this one perhaps.. There are other ways to add image galleries but nothing is easy or quick..

WHAAAUW... you dit astonishing things Destiny!!!

I think it would be great using this http://members.westnet.com.au/dps/js/co … ltour.html. not the menus I mean but the movement of the photo.
When clicking on a painting the photo of a painting will grow out of the painting itsself.
Do you know what I mean? Is it possible to make such a code or do I have to keep on dreaming :-).

Hi.. No, not dreaming.. You have having a Nightmare!!.. lol If you want it done, I will try to see if I can get it to work and if so I will have to code it up for you since it would take for ever to write up an instruction sheet.. It's not easy.... and even then I am not guaranteeing that it will work.. What I do is always new and very experimental..

I will give it a go today.. wink This is all javascript so it will on iDevices too..big_smile ... if I get it to work.. hmm roll

When the room turns arround from the left to the right the pictures still comming from the same site.
May be your suggestion using the Andrew option is indeed easier.
