LGA2011 i7 3820 vs LGA1155 i7 3770K?

I plan to upgrade and wonder what socket to choose.

1) LGA1155 is money saving and i7 3770K is the top processor in it. There will be no new processors for it. Downside is that it is limited to 32GB RAM.
2) LGA2011 is much more expensive. But it is planned to develop new processors for it for another year or so. And it may have 64GB RAM and have better bandwith with it.

Right now I have a budget for 3770K or 3820. They are almost the same cost. But which is better? Or how much faster than 3770K will be 3930K (for future planing)? It is understandable that between one socket the better proccesor will show the better result. But what about different sockets? And is it important to have good bandwith with RAM?

Maybe some LGA2011 users with top CPUs may share a project with benchmark result on there system. And then I may render the same project on other systems for compare.

Look for the socket with the most future in it, that take the most expanding, providing you plan upgrade your system within 3 years. If not then just get the cheapest

For benchmarks in panoramic making for both Autopano and PTGui search google for PTGui speedtest.

Run the test on your current system to compare it to your future system or similar systems.

3770K ... euro or dollar?

EDIT: lol - ok see - the i7-3770K not 3770k money ... ok my error. so maybe the following is above your budget wink :

1155 or 2011: I would go the 2011 row. and not the i7 but the xeon row.

APG use the max CPU-power only on parts of the process. Most of the process it relies on RAM/swappping to the pagefile/disk-access  etc.
I would rather spend some money on maximum amount of RAM and on SSD-raid/Revodrive then the latest most high-end CPU.

I's second that .  CPU at 100% happens only somtimes while rendering and that is when one is likely not behind computer.

Optimal is to have as much RAM as needed so there will be no swapping, which can be calculated based on the nr of photos and their resolution.

Let's not forget GPU-memory. Since I have 4 GB of GPU memory instead of 512MB I spent half the time behind computer then what I used to do.
