Camera and lens profiles / optimum settings

I have the feeling (maybe misguided?) that serious panorama photographers are using a small number of body/lens configurations. I know that on the Nikon side, the Sigma 10-20, Nikkor 10.5 Fisheye, 10-24, 12-24 are widely used on DX bodies, while the 16mm FE and 14-24 are used on FX - I'm probably missing some combinations at less wide angles, but you get the picture.. it's a fairly reduced number of lenses.

Could't APP directly pick up the lenses from the image info and set up the more sophisticated parameters of lens correction automatically?

Or is there a place in the forums with a table for optimal parameters?

It's almost impossible to find the best ones via trial and errors, given the many options available.

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Given you use an original lens matching the body: it does. It´s in the EXIFs. What do you mean: "more sophisticated informations"?
As well as Photoshop as an example can read "sophisticated informations" from the lens regarding geometrics for dealing with abberations and so on
APP/APG reads this informations also afaik from the EXIFs.

I guess it uses these informations for the lens-correction algos.

I have no information about how APP/G handles non-original lenses resp. lenses which don´t provide any EXIFs in terms of lens-corrections.
There´s an automatic feature . . but what it does exactly i don´t know - but somehow it works fine . . winkcool

My experiences after about 6 years of use: APP/G does very, very well. My suggestion: don´t try to save money on lenses - use the best you can afford
and better buy ONE real good lens than several mediocre ones.

best, Klaus

Nope, Picking up the lenses directly from the image info and set up the more sophisticated parameters of lens correction automatically is very difficult.

I have no information about it.
