Amazing 360's! How does he do it?

I was just doing some internet surfing and checking out pano's when I can across this guy's work:

http://www.360bilder.de/html/vr_skydiving1.htm

http://www.360bilder.de/html/vr_pilatus_p2_1.htm

Truly amazing work, but how does he manage to shoot panos like this!!?? I mean, you can't really set-up your nodal ninja in these situations wink

real woderful ones....
he uses a self developed DIY pole with a (in above example) a Canon EOS 400D with a 8mm Sigma on a nodaladapter. So looking at the pole it seems he has a shutterrelease via cable and maybe also a stepmotor to turn the pole to the 4 positions he can trigger with his hand.
in your example you can see he does hold a camera, where the "lens" has a little advertisement on it. so I think he has a canon and instead of a lens he did moutn a pole with a nodaladaptor and a second cam rotating and taking the images.
for 2008 really unseen quality...still today.

today you can make your live easier:
take 6 gopro HERO3 black editions (http://gopro.com/)
and put them in kolor upcomings "heavans cage" (a pre-series-model seen on photokina with Alexandre in background smile http://www.kolor.com/forum/p105535-2012 … 59#p105535 )
so you can take in sequences every x seconds 6 HD and even higher resolution images you can stitch - stills - and also video for upcoming kolor eyes...)

Liebe Gruesse,
Georg

Re: Amazing 360's! How does he do it?

Thanks for the insight Georg, and as you said, for 2008 and still today it is really amazing quality.

I have been following with interest this white box with the Go-pro cameras that you have linked to. I understood that there were some overheating problems with that prototype so I look forward to seeing the next version, do you know when it is due for release??

Savski

no. it would make sense coming close with panotuor 2.0 or if coming later with the kolor eyes addition to panotour 2.0...

is possible.
but than he did really good correct the zenith region - which is not seen by the mirors.
and I also think the resolution is higher than ever seen until now with a mirror system.

Hi Georg!

Right!

But the Zenith is easy: just one shot in the direction of the axis - and you have it.

The image-quality makes me unsure about the mirror-system . . but who knows . . cool
Maybe there are better ones these days wink

Hi Klaus
It's only a little bit edited in photoshop. You can see this when lighten up the image.
Hands and Camera is copy/paste.
I see some other 360VRs from him, where the pole is visible in some mirrors or shades on the floor.
You must have a lot of experiences when shooting this with a camera on a pole while you are flying.
These shots are really great!

You´re right! Bernd is brilliant in shooting those scenes.
