After upgrade from 2.5xxx. to 2.6.4 stitching a complete muddle in small preview window and worse in edit window:
Same 5 images were previously stitched with 2.5xxx without problem.

It would help if you make available a zipfile with the originals. Maybe you can use wetransfer.com and copy the link here.

Thanks Hans, But I am an Autopano user since v1.xxx and before that PTGui so be convinced the 6 images used are stitchable. And of course I have tried with other sets of images like these

Hey Mark!
Doesn´t matter how long you´re using Autopano - you seem to have made a mistake by not cropping your fisheye-images correctly . . ![]()
Can you tell about your setup?
best, Klaus

Ok Klaus,
Camera: Canon 50D with Sigma 8mm f/3.5
Setup per default plus
Optimisation: Fisheye
Preferred projection: Spherical
Preferred extent: Maximum projection range (but I have tried "Clamped to panorama content" too
Is that Ok so far?
Well if you think it will help I can post the images used as Hans suggested.

Yes. Good idea!

In the meantime you should use the crop-tool in the image-import to avoid the black edges in your images - there should be no black corners:

Thanks everyone, probably the problem is with my desktop PC. Take a look at this comparison between the desktop and a laptop.
Both left at default. The first stitch is horrible, the second very reasonable!
Neither were running APP v2.6.4 but instead v3 just released. But the resulting problem is similar.
Of course I'm a bit unhappy that having paid for an upgrade from v2.5 to v2.6 the day before yesterday and now I will have to pay again to upgrade to v3. (Or would the net cost have been the same?)
Mark
PS I should have mentioned that I recently restored my desktop to factory default prior to these problems occuring!

George,
Autopano Pro 2.5 to 2.6 a day or two ago and intend 2.6 to 3.x as soon as I've sorted out my PC problem - today or tomorrow I expect.
Would it have been cheaper to have gone directly from 2.5 to 3.0
Giga not required

No.
There is no charge for upgrades within 2.x series of APP or APG.
There would be charge to upgrade from APP 2.x to APG 2.x

Moderator,
Must have got my licence keys mixed - perhaps I entered a very old one!

This is how things were in 2011 before restoring my old Vista desktop to factory default.
Note the nader and a bit of the sky were missing from the original images and therefore reconstructed with Photoshop.
18 months later I downloaded Autopano Pro 2.6.4 and using the same five images as used for the above equirectangular I got a total mess. Many, many hours later and having consulted you guys I still couldn't get things working. Today I downloaded a trial Autopano Giga 3 with much the same result but this time I could preview prior to rendering and surprise, surprise, it was just as one would have expected when things were working normally. Take a look.
Please someone help me out because I have tried about every setting possible with Autopano.

Ok Hans - I used a hand supported pole that's the way I work.

Just 'Save as'
But I don't think it has anything to do with the five images which stitch well enough with the same programme on my laptop and even look reasonably well stitched in the preview window of AP Giga 3
Man tut was man kann

Equipement - Canon 50D, Sigma 8mm f/3.5 fisheye, locked Nodal Ninja 3 on 2.2m pole, hand supported. f/8 at fixed focus on fisheye of approx 1m. See loats of my stuff at 360cities.net/profile/mark-schuster

I get the same preview as you do. Generate it and I think you have a nice panorama...What was the problem again? O the mess in the group wndow? Well, as the preview is ok, I guess probleme solved.

I used your image above...
(can you next time use the add image instead of inserting the image into the posting test directly?)
the images have no exif.
so I did set canon eos 50D using 8mm fisheye. conversion and final focal was calculated by apg 3.0.
see the settings in my screenshot. with default values of my apg I did get similar resulty than you.
I did set the fisheye circle manually for the images - I thinks the default recognized will do it too.
I did use strong detection and used similarity ransac model, used free layout for links.
using the preview most of the ghosts got erased it looks pretty good for me for a 4 minute project... (no better CP settings, no mask, layer, color or any other correction...)
and I discovered with your image an autopano 3.0 bug. it does not remember once manual set image properties. next time you're entering the image properties the changes are gone (allthough the focal value still remains correct) see in seperate posting:
http://www.kolor.com/forum/viewtopic.ph … 97#p108397
EDIT:
and following bug about entering manually the Aperture value:
http://www.kolor.com/forum/viewtopic.ph … 99#p108399

Hans, You say, 'I get the same preview as you do. Generate it and I think you have a nice panorama...What was the problem again? O the mess in the group wndow? Well, as the preview is ok, I guess probleme solved.'
Well no, generally there is much to do before rendering. For instance levelling - something very necessary for hand held, or long hand supported pole images, which is the way I work.
GKaefer and Klaus,
Well I tried manual crop although automatic crop was almost perfect but as you can see it made nearly no difference and certainly didn't solve any problem
but "ransac": I can't find any reference to that in any of the set-up boxes. Please point out where I can find it.
Now I should mention I use Autopano because it is so forgiving. It corrects for all sorts of errors with nearly no intervention. And it has never let me down and still doesn't providing I use one of my other computers: a Windows XP laptop and a Windows 7 laptop. And try as I may - and as you may - I can't get my Vista desktop to work with it. So I really need your help or 500 euro to buy a new Windows 8 desktop.
In the meantime I'm loosing a lot of sleep!

ransac...
see my screenshot. (groups settings -> Detection -> Control points / image pair: Ransac models
and i wann make clear, I use the 3.0 final... but testing it with 2.6.4 apg and using the exact same values as shown in my screenshot I get exact same acceptable result as with 3.0 final - except I've no preivew option available and so massive ghosts.
most important setting is changing detection quality from standard to high.

Ok Georg,
Thanks. Found reference to ransac. It only appears in Giga 3 not APP 2.6.4, but in anycase trying both possible settings in Giga makes no difference to the result.
It would be interesting to have some response from the Kolor team.
But for now, I give up!

Mark,
Untill you find out what is wrong, I can stitch your images for free and return you both a good result and a pano file. You can use wetransfer.com to send your files to hans@alsofjeerbent.nl or ask me for a ftp-account on my server.
I hope that will make you sleep better.

take some time, dont hurry, dont panic. maybe a cup of tee or coffee ;-)
reboot once your PC (I had it once that whatever option I did use - and I did know that the settings did work in past... - I had to reboot to get it working again)
the ransac is also in 2.6.4 at the same place of settings, I could do the pano equally with 2.6.4 and with 3.0!!!

Hans,
Appreciate the offer but I can still stitch using my Windows 8 laptop. Its disadvantage is its letter-box display which is not a good aspect ratio for panoramas, so I will finish the work with Pano2vr and Photoshop on my big screen desktop (the one that won't run Autopano).
Georg,
Thanks for your advice but I've rebooted my PC many, many, time. I feel like booting it with my foot! As for tea and coffee I've tried a lot of that too, even a large glass of Weinbrand; made me feel better but my desktop, being non-organic, was unimpressed.

People,
I really don't want too. I converted tp Autopano from PTGui many years ago, but unless someone can help me make APP 2.6.4 or 3.0 work on my Vista PC it looks like I might have to convert back again.
Here is something you don't see often in this forum, a trial PTGui equirectangular image, and I really would rather not either.
So that I don't have to buy a PTGui licence please help me make Autopano Pro work!

It sems there's something weird about your current install of APP/APG and it's interactions with Vista.
Perhaps unistall any and all versions of APP/APG on your system.
Reboot and then re-install V3?
And /or upgrade Vista to Windows 8?
