Hi all,
my first sphere (yes, it is only almost a sphere, zenit and nadir are missing) is yet finished, as far as it can be finished...
http://www.wackel3d.de/gigapanos/mariah … fberg.html
Due to my improvised equipment (no nodal mounting used) there are some stitching errors that cannot be solved, but most of them are resolved. Please look over the few remaining generously.
There is something i would like to know ... does the map and radar work correctly?
greetings from germany

Hi Chris.. Its not quite a sphere but I still love it..
..... Considering your improvised gear.. well done.. !!
Destiny...
PS.. the Map works fine... ![]()

Hi Chris,
"yes" it does work correctly.
on full speherical panos you can see the FOV displayed in the radar
on non full spherical panos you only have a "stick" displayed.
dont know if this can be solved in future versions. up to ptp 1.8 its "normal" behaviour.
so finally when not using 360x180 panos I would not use the radar...
the displayed map is unsharp. its google... so to avoid this I just would zoom one step further, there the google map is sharp again.
Georg
EDIT: correct - than bing is unsharp ![]()

Hii Chris!
1) I suggest to limit the zoom-angle for the landscape pano - it´s quite unsharp at 100%.
2) For the church you used a wrong projection - it´s heavily distorted. Here i suggest to set a full spherical setting in APG-editor and leave Zenith and Nadir empty.
So you can render a full sphere without "real" Zenith and Nadir for having a correctly un-distorted spherical projection.
In PTP you can use the crop-tool then for limiting the vertical angle - but you also can do that in the xml of the pano.
This way your pano will not be distorted so heavily.
best, Klaus

Hi Klaus, Gerhard, and Destiny,
thank you for your comments and hints. Giving the fact, that it is my first, spontaneously and improvised made (semi-) sphere, it is a great job. Next one will be better (i hope).
@Klaus: yes, the pano is distorted. Maybe i am wrong, but i would explain it just contrary to you. Looking at the area near the zenith, pixels are stretched in width. So i would say, they should come even closer to the zenith for not beeing stretched. And when coming closer to the zenit, the remaining of the pano will slide up and (hopefully) be a little less distorted.
@Gerhard: it is bing maps, not google. Unfortunately google doesn´t provide any more keys for the flash api. And openstreetmap doesnt give me the choice to select map or air view.
greetings from germany

It´s just a question of handling the shots in the stitcher. Making a sphere it has to be a WHOLE sphere - even when there´s no pictures for a whole sphere. So the space for Zenith and Nadir stay empty and you have black areas in your your equirectangular image.
Importing the equi into PTP you can use the crop-tool in PTP - it does nothing but limit the vertical FOV.
And then you will see that your pano isn´t distorted any more the way it is now. Actually you don´t seem to have the equi exactly 2:1.
best, Klaus

Hola Cristiano:
