Any news on Panotour 2?

Hi Kolor

Any news about Panotour 2. Was it shown at Photokina, and what about releasedate or first Alpha/Beta release.

We are desperate waiting :-)

Cheers

Henrik

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

did you see the preview?
http://www.kolor.com/blog-en/2012/07/05 … nce-ivrpa/

there is progress...
did you see that one of the kolor eyes videos (the CGI tour) do work since Monday with IE9 (with installed Google Chrome Frame plugin). so hope the others will work too soon.

so panotour 2 is based on krpano 1.0.8.15 which does have HTML5 support for IE10 (without need of installing plugins). So with Win8 start and when IE9->IE10 updates for Win7 are available the support of the HTML5 plugins and things like the live video is better supported.

there also will be a 360" rig comeing to marked to generate such 360" videos (screenshot shows one with plastic housing the final will be metal)...

panotour 2 will have a lot of templates onboard.

so time will come :D

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

the link of Ninja example not running on IE9 is a .webm and .mp4 format
http://www.kolor.com/kolor-eyes-html5-3 … mable.webm
http://www.kolor.com/kolor-eyes-html5-3 … amable.mp4

and the working CGI example running on IE9 is also a .webm format
http://www.kolor.com/kolor-eyes-html5-3 … mable.webm
http://www.kolor.com/kolor-eyes-html5-3 … amable.mp4

same fps same size... hmm.. no ideas why one is working the others not...

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

From what I heard it would include also a real template manager and handling so we can create our own themes and modify/edit them in PTP directly I guess wink

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

Hi  Vincen.. That was actually a future request of mine... It makes real sense to have it... I sure hope it is part of the new PTP V2+.. I am hanging out to give it a road test.. wink One other thing I want to see is the option to add more media types directly into the Virtual Tour where it can read extension files linked to that media..  In many ways it can since I have done it.. But it needs more options with adding media directly into the tour.. I guess that will come with html5/webGL...

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

addon to the 3Drig...
the rig does hold 6 gopro HD2 cams.
the cams are great. but... ;-) autowhitebalance, non 24fps, jiggling images if used in low light conditions when cam is in move.
so what?

gopro will release an free! update which turns the firmware in a more pro cam (announced 4/2012 for Summer 2012):

the H.264 REC709 colorspace will be replaced by Log-colorspace (similar to Canon C300 Log colorspace!)
this will reduce colorartefacts in colorful scenes.
and filmed material can be better adopted to pro cam film material.
24fps
35Mbps Datarate!

sources:

German: http://www.blickvang.com/blog/gopro-protune-firmware/
English: http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/18/gopr … ps-higher/
Video Demo: http://vimeo.com/42728333

so will be interesting to see how panotour2 with the livepano can handle rendering of 6 x 35Mbps and which resources finally are needed for that

Georg

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

maybe of interest for kolor team (and maybe unknown until now), some links found describing some gopro internals:

Pins of the GoPro Hero HD bus interface:
http://chargeconverter.com/blog/?p=71

a cool timelapse selfmade interface for the GoPro:
http://cam-do.com/manuals/TimeControlManual.html

to put such a rig on a RC like octocopter or normal RC helicopters (remote live view):
http://www.gentles.ltd.uk/gentwire/hero.htm

of course an own forum about the bus interface:
http://goprouser.freeforums.org/gopro-h … s-f23.html

big_smile

AND just seen that now ALL the kolor eyes videos do work now with IE9 (if Google Chrome Frame plugin is installed). the videos are now more fluid without interrupts on IE9...

Liebe Gruesse,
Georg

I think they have their hands full with APG. I rather see them do things slow and good then rushed with errors.

ptp2 is expected to claim advanced mobile device support and advanced feature like kolor-eyes. To fullfill this finally it must be working on IE browser to support +50% of browser market. Currently the IE10 preview for win7 does not work with the kolor-eyes.... so hopefully its not going to be Christmas 2013, but only 1st quarter 2013...

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

.... well, I was hoping the kolor boys and girls would have it all done before the world ends on the 21st of this month.. roll

... but just in case it's done by then.. I might buy a lotto ticket on the 12/12/2012, @ 12 minutes and 12 seconeds past 12 o'clock so I can afford to buy it.. Perhaps 12 might be my lucky number... lollol ... but strange thing.. the reverse of the 21st is the 12th.... Perhaps the Mayan calendar got it wrong or they just run out of rock to write on... wink

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

Will there be a official statement of the Kolor chaps any time soon on Panotour 2.0?

I can understand they have other software to develop/maintain as well, but this "2.0 carrot" has been hanging in front of our faces for over 6 months now..... :-\

It would be nice to have some kind of timeline, beta and release/upgrade path.

cheers,

rob

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

Everybody is looking forward PanotourPro 2. What do us offer? Frankly, after viewing the presentation where I saw new threads..http://www.slideshare.net/kolor_company … ce#btnNextI begin to doubt the merits of the version 2.0. Developers panotour and so lost a lot of good on the way from version 1.5 to 1.8.

Re: Any news on Panotour 2?

emm... Not sure why you "doubt the merits of the version 2.0".. You don't judge a painting before its finished... I suggest you wait and see before making judgments. I personally feel that ptp V2 will blow us all away with features.... All good things are worth waiting for..  Just look how long Easypano Tourweaver has been advertising on their web site about the release of their new version.. Well over a year!!!.. and going by what I can see.. I wound't bother with it..

I have my name down for the first copy of V2, I am sure it will continue to be a world-class software app..

Easypano Tourweaver always been marked by old-fashioned. This is the worst example of programming and design.

Still no news???

It is almost a year since we heard about PTP 2.0 first time, and the expected release date has now passed.

Tell us what is happening, so we know what we can offer our customers!!
