Virtual tour of Cape Town Guesthouse

My latest Cape Town virtual tour: http://www.virtualspaces.co.za/tours/indigo_view
Please feel free to leave your comments. I am struggling to embed my tours in my wordpress site so that the tour displays correctly on iPad, etc. I also could use any advice that may improve the quality of the tour. I struggle with bracketing as my Nikon D60 doesn't auto-bracket. Sometimes I shoot raw but it seems to take too long to stitch.

Re: Virtual tour of Cape Town Guesthouse

I would not care about ipads as long it does not work on IE9 nore on Firefox and also not on googlel chrome.

IE9 - pano is displayed, but I cant think the dimension of the opano preview is intended
Firefox - pano preview cant be displayed because of missing plugin - and more bad - no plugin is available if you try to install it
Google Chrome - finally I think the layout of the pano preview was also not in this way intended.

for wordpress theres one solution you cant fail with...
http://www.panopress.org/

Georg

PS: raw: I never shoot other than RAW. in small panos you can use them in autopano directly. they get automatically converted to tiffs internally. So finally its wiser to let convert the RAW externally by you favorite RAW-Converter... in all cases you've more influence on the image than let autopano doing the convertion. in external RAW Converter your image represents +-0EV so you can create duplicate images with +1EV,+2EV,-1EV,-2EV and export them as tiffs. load the tiffs into autopano....

about the pano: I would limit the max zoom limit, so user cant zoom in endless...

barackets: dont know if its interesting, because your D60 is only supported in USB only mode, but with the promote device up to 9EV with up to 45 brackets can be realized: http://www.promotesystems.com/

Re: Virtual tour of Cape Town Guesthouse

Georg,
Thank you so much for the response and tips!
I have been trying to get panopress working, but without success. I have tried to follow the instructions from Panopress. I usually host the Virtual Tours in my dropbox and I create them for all formats, so I usually embed the dropbox public link. But, as an exercise, I uploaded my tour to the server and tried pointing Panopress to .xml, html or .swf - the best result that i get is 'movie not loaded'

http://www.virtualspaces.co.za/tours/wilderness

I suspect that the multiformat is causing a problem...ie. iPad and iPhone, etc.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Dan

Re: Virtual tour of Cape Town Guesthouse

ok, this example:
http://www.gigapixel.at/?p=443

I creatd with panotour my tour and saved all in one directory locally. This directory I did ftp upload (including all files inside...) to my website.
it is also available directly now:
http://www.gigapixel.at/wp-content/uplo … macro.html

to make the tour available via panopress I just did include into my page:

Code:

[pano file="potted-plant-macro/potted-plant-chrysantheme-macro.swf" width="464" height="429" preview="pottet-plant-chrysantheme-preview.jpg"]

so finally I had to create a preview image for my pano and save it in the root directory, directly under /wp-content/uploads/

if it can work if content is outside the range of javascript influence (security permitts in general javascript access spanning over different servers....) I doubt, but finally not expert to make a 100% statement...

and panopress settings I used for folder-path: "wp-content/uploads"

Georg

Re: Virtual tour of Cape Town Guesthouse

Hi Georg,

Thanks so much for the help! It was a link issue. It works now, but I'll have to figure out how to get the iPad version working as that was my original problem. Looks as if I will have to work out the KrTools droplet, etc.

That will be the next chapter.

Cheers,
Dan

Hola  Danamix:
