Hello,
First post here, but couldn't find the answer to this.
I only recently started using Autopano Giga. I processed a multi-row panorama this weekend (many times) and every time I try to import it into Lightroom 4, I get a message saying "This file is too big".
As I mentioned, I processed the panorama many times, to try to make the file smaller.
My workflow:
* the RAW files are from my D800
* In LR4, I export to Tiff
* Then I process using Autopano giga
* then I try to import in LR4.
On each attempt, I tried to make the final output smaller: at first, I exported the RAW files to Tiff 16bit, then I did 8bit, then I did Tiff 8bit with LZW compression. This final attempt got the stitched panorama to 1.8GB wich is on par with other panoramas that I stitched a while ago with Hugin or Photoshop elements 9.
So, even the smaller stitched panorama, which was less than 2GB (approx 22000x28000 pixels), was still rejected by LR4. Something is wrong because LR4 has accepted similar sizes in the past.
Does anyone know what's going on?
Thank you
George

welcome on forum.
do you use a 32bit or 64bit Operating System and in case of 64bit OS, is your LR4 also 64bit version?
with how many RAM is your Computer equipped?
which version of autopano are you using?
your final pano rendered in autopano: which file format did you choose?
and which option did you use under "Exported data": Panorama/Layers/Picutes/Embedded all output/Remove alpha channel etc.?

Hello Georg,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I don't have all the answers, but I have some:

I'm using a Macbook pro under Lion, not sure about 32bit or 64bit. But Lightroom, aside from the issue I'm having with this stitched panorama, is working perfectly well. It's where all my photos live. I can check about 32bit vs. 64bit.
with how many RAM is your Computer equipped?
8GB
which version of autopano are you using?
version 2.6 with the latest update
your final pano rendered in autopano: which file format did you choose?
Tiff
and which option did you use under "Exported data": Panorama/Layers/Picutes/Embedded all output/Remove alpha channel etc.?
I've left "remove alpha channel" unchecked for now.
Thanks
Georges

Im not using apple - so maybe I'm wrong here:
I dont know how to figure out which version is now running on your computer...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3773
this sounds like both is possible. most modern 2-4 year old computer should be 64bit ready... so you could try
and 64bit version of OS does have far less limitations. on 32bit windows PCs there is a 2gb filesizelimit. so this may explain your problem. 1.8gig 8bit TIFF with LZW compression... maybe if the programm does internal open the file it exceeds the 2gb limit while uncompressing it...
ony my PC with 8gb RAM win7/64bit I could work with 6-8gb panos in autopano and panotour. PSE8-10 I did not try ...
after upgrading pc to 16GB RAM autopano did have much more resources available (on 8gb RAM about 3.7 gig could be used, on 16GB RAM finally 12GB can be used) so maybe this is comparable to your setup.
if you remove the alpha channel. filesize gets reduced. so this may help too...

Hi Georg,
Thank you for your guidance.
I will check whether I'm using 32 or 64bit.
The issue I don't understand is why previous larger panos didn't cause any issues when processed with Hugin for example. I have panos that are up to 1GB larger than this one. So weird...
Thanks!
