Sound in Widgets for ibooks

Panotour requires mp3 sound, which on the other hand iBooks  doesn't  accept.  The right format would be .m4a I guess. Any plan to make sound compatible  with iBooks?

Re: Sound in Widgets for ibooks

Hello Willy,

I opened an issue on this subject : N°1208 .

Meanwhile, you can do the following.

1 - With PTP, create an iBook widget tour with a mp3 file.
2 - Then get into the widget (the widget is just a directory, so you can step into it using your Finder),
3 - Go into the "mytourdata/sounds" subdirectory
4 - Replace the "soundx.mp3" files by your m4a files
5 - Go up in the main iBook widget directory
6 - open the panorama XML files.
7 - Find the references to your mp3 file.
8 - Change them by references to your m4a files
9 - Import your widget in your iBook

It will work because the soundinterface.js krpano plugin, is able to play m4a files .

In PTP, our problem to solve this issue is that the flash version of this plugin is not able to play them, so we have manage sound files according to the kind of tour which is built.

Re: Sound in Widgets for ibooks

Thank you very much,  I was already tempted to do this.  Will try  now. Btw. in order to know  who, where and how often your ibooks are read, you can  put your web counter code into the index.html file inside the widget.

Re: Sound in Widgets for ibooks

A bit frustrated: followed your directions exactly. Converted my mp3 to an m4a using iTunes. Tried High Quality m4a first (128kbps) and when that didn't work tried iTunes plus (256kbps). Edited the xml name for the .mp3 extension in all 4 pano xml files. Done it 3 times now. Still get this error: ERROR: sound interface - loading of index data/sounds/sound0.ma4 failed! It's the exact file location. The m4a file plays on the desktop. Any ideas??

I have been getting the same issues. Followed the steps above which make sense but still getting an error. ERROR: sound interface - loading of indexdata/sounds/sound0.ma4 failed!

Anyone else shed some light.  It's gotta be something simple.

Thomas.
