100MP full spherical shot in well under 10 seconds. Just takes 3 shots.
Was fairly impressed with this test.

I just wonder a little bit... (the outdoor example)
if this pnao is only made of 3 images and they got shot within 10 seconds...
how is it possible to get big stitching errors on top of unfinished built skyscraper (opposite side of water fountain...)
and why are so many ghosts / moving persons in that pano?
shouldnt the panohead speedmode and the implied short shutter speed used avoid this?
Georg
PS: for using more than 26.000€ equipment I do expect other results....(in speedmode too...)

Hi Georg -
Blur because the shutter speed was 0.5 seconds. This was taken exactly at sunset.
Not speedmode - head stops in each position.
Nice catch on the stitching error - I'd missed that (building is very much finished though!).
Please take into account that I'm just testing this stuff out. That pano was online within an hour of taking it (and that's including travel time) and there has been zero post-processing on the images.
The serious stuff will come later in the year.
Regards,
Gerald.

Eh, Georg,
You have good eyes for detail my freind....are you sure you aint by accident Swiss...but hey you can shoot a pano in 3 seconds....creating it usually takes a bit longer (1 do a 50 Mpixel sphere in 10 seconds and work on them for about an hour, so our Dubai freind should have taken at least 20 minutes (less seconds) x 2 (to compensate for double the megapixels) x 80 (to compensate for 80 times the cost) = 3200 minutes to get things right
.....eh, and by the way.....26.000 euro.....were do you buy youre stuff....I see prices well into the 40.000 (hence the factor 80) euro region in front of my inner eye (and on the net)....for all that lovely gear. But Austrian (or Swiss) knitpicking aside and some pun on the sideline (which English humour should account for), it's a cool tool and I think it has loads of potential.....but it will take somewhat more finetuning to reach that....but I trust Gerard will get that act together.

6T for the for the HCam BI (hartblei homepage)
17T for the IQ180 (google quick search)
3T for the VR2 (hoempage)
and the canon lens I dont know .. it s to expensive for me so didnt search for it.
also did not care about bodyguard protecting the equipment on location. ;-)
yes like with everything new tech toys. practising can work wonder.
besides - thanks for this posting - didnt know the Hartblei until now. www.hartblei.de so did learn a lot.
why shooting the pano in 10 seconds at all? take 30 seconds time and you get an picasso....

Hi Ed -
He does indeed have an excellent eye ![]()
As mentioned, this was a very rushed test (I had to take the wife out for dinner)! I shot another 4 or 5 panos after this one, broke the fast with the police, went home, downloaded the photos, pushed them through Capture One without touching them, fired up PTG Pro, loaded, cropped, stitched, rendered, saved, loaded into Panotour Pro, created the tour, and uploaded.
All of that in less than an hour.
What I think is fairly impressive is that the only manual intervention in the entire process was to set the crop in PTG Pro for the images. That was it - no other manual editing anywhere in the chain (although of course that does show in the output!).
Kind regards,
Gerald.

Since there's some interest in the HCam, here's what it's like with the 24mm TS-E II.
Remember - this back's sensor is 53.6mm x 40.4mm.
Single shots at different apertures. 0 and +5 shift:

testing is ok - and I could load tons of really failed exemplaes where I did test my equipment.... so thats absolute ok.
I also wonder in your test pano (first outdoor) ... 3 images... why are they not equally sharp? so the "cool down" time from moving the head seems not to be not long enough.
but also to be honest I canot wait forward seeing more panos made with this equipment!
Liebe Gruesse,
Georg

Hi Georg -
I need to look at the original images carefully ( think you've looked at this more carefully than I have so far!), but my suspicions for any variance in sharpness would be more towards movement due to wind rather than the head settling. These were shot with the Y bracket/motor removed - the camera is mounted directly on the main unit of the VR Drive since it only needs to spin around the X axis.
The 8-15 is fairly soft on this sensor as well. Again - you have to take into consideration that this is a lens designed for a 36x24mm sensor being used on full frame medium format.
I need more time to work out how to get the best out of it, what its limits are, and how best to compensate for them. You'll notice from the 24mm TS-E tests I linked to that there are significant differences in image quality depending on aperture, and I haven't tried playing off aperture against ISO yet.
There are very few people in the world with this set of kit (in fact, I think I'm probably the first person ever to put one of these on a VR Drive), so I'm kind of on my own right now!
Kind regards,
Gerald.
