No more preview in the Autopano 2.6.3 Editor

Hi

I see previews in other screens (screenshots) but into the Editor I see it for one nanosecond only, then it disappears, why?

I have no swap disk, may be it's the culprit?

BTW, I just used the AMD Driver Autodetect tool, so I am sure that my ATI driver is already the latest

Re: No more preview in the Autopano 2.6.3 Editor

Just found and tested PTGui 9.1.3 and its Editor preview works ...
so I hope you can fix this issue, before I have to buy it

Re: No more preview in the Autopano 2.6.3 Editor

if gpu is enabled in autopano. did you test the "compatibility" option for older graphic cards or did you try to disable gpu? if yes - with same result?

about spapspace... dont know if this is needed... but in general a good idea to use this, because until pano is rendered this space is used depending on hardware more or less

Re: No more preview in the Autopano 2.6.3 Editor

I tried both GPU options but no one worked

I'll try the swap option but it's a pity using it, as no one of my several softwares use a swap space and not using a swap space makes faster a lot of tools

in general - swap should no discussion worth handling panos with 2-10 images as yours... thats clear.
but I dont know how autopano is handling this combination: low RAM (3GB) and no temp directory. So what is autopano doing in case mem is not enough and no temp for swapping is defined? not showing the preview like in your case could be the result.

and disabling GPU (+ defining a temp/swap directory)? does this result also in black previews?
Are your drivers for your Radeon X1650 Series  most recent drivers (for XP)?

PS if autopano is forced to use the temp space its absolutley slower... so its always welcome to have enough RAM memory to avoid tempdir usage/swapping.
And I can say that autopano could use of my 8GB RAM Win7/64bit only 3.5GB... so if I would do panos where more memory for calculations would be needed the swapping would take place.
now I upgraded to 16GB RAM and autopano can use with exact same PC & Software installed 11GB... so windows is far from being optimum handling memory... so its not only autopano side...

YES

Georg: Are your drivers for your Radeon X1650 Series  most recent drivers (for XP)?
YES, I checked them with the ATI check tool

as I said, it worked without any problems until few releases ago, so I think it's a problem embedded in last releases, only
furthermore, other tools as PTGui work smoothly and very fast with 3 GB

Hey Claudio!

Providing more and more features it´s not surprising to need more power. There were times in the past when 640k of RAM was enough - and relevant people argued that "nobody ever will need more"  . . . or so. big_smilecool

Ok - nowadays 3GB of RAM is too few for some features. The system swaps - that means it gets either very slow (depending very much on your drives) or refuses to work at all.

The same is with graphics. I actually face the issue that my MacPro´s graphic card - though it has about 1GB RAM and was very expensive 5 years ago - doesn´t suit APG 3.0.

Times are changing wink - and so does software . . cool

Ar you sure that this relates to the latest version also?

best, Klaus

Did you try V3 alpha 1?

Not : if you disable GPU mode, then you need restart the software.
In this case, there is no way you can get a black screenshot ( except if color correction or levels are badly setup ).

AlexandreJ, to be an absolute beginner, you seem quite a smart guy huh?
;-)))

yes, it works, even if I suppose that disabling the GPU can be a drawback in other situations, isnt'it?
