I found the following in APP 3 beta (64 bitt)
Preset cylindrical projection
Load pictures, detect pano, open workspace
Vertical tool only works in spherical and planar projection (icon collor) not in the rest (icon gray),
while in APP2.6 it also works in cylindrical and Mercator
Is this a change or do I something wrong ?

Vertical lines is a concept that is only valid in some projection. As we added several new projection, we did do the tool only for some of them. We'll reintroduce the tool for all old projection in alpha 2. That's the reason.
